The NFL will announce a tougher personal conduct policy next week, one that could hand down harsh penalties for players who repeatedly run into legal trouble. Commissioner Roger Goodell is hoping to gain support for a program that could face legal challenges, particularly if players are suspended before their cases make their way through the legal system.

For the legal system "yes", for anything else "no". The NFL pays you. If they don't want your stupidity making them look bad, they should be able to do whatever they want.

i agree and disagree i guess. i mean i see it being something interesting and not black and white. say adam pacman jones. sure if he screws up nail him. what if joe schmo who has never been in trouble is linked to something? i dont know how much flexibility it has. i like concrete ways to deal with things.

one thing i have to give the nfl credit is they manage their brand. sure some may call it the no fun league. but, its just as out of control as the nba and they keep it uner wraps pretty good.

It was typical code-of-conduct stuff. No drinking, no cops, no late-night partying.
So a senior running back named Roger Goodell signed, just like the rest of his teammates. But his friend Bill Mullalley knew Goodell viewed the pledge a lot differently than most of the other guys.
