If you follow me on twitter you know that at some point yesterday evening I got up off of my couch and ran through my basement wall. Keep in mind that I am a 48 year old male and not a young college kid that gets to listen to him all day, everyday. There’s been some pretty good mic’d up series coming out of the program of late, but the best by far happened with defensive line coach Larry Johnson.

The best defensive line coach in the country wears the mic today.#PowerOfTheUnit #TheEdge https://t.co/9m5szuA32K

The first time that I felt like running through a wall for an Ohio State coach was when the recruit visit video of Coach Coombs hit the interwebs.

Both of these men are my kind of old school coaches. Coach Johnson reminds me of a coach that I had in peewee football when I was 12 years old. His motivation for me as a player was to never leave anything on the field. I get the feeling that Coach Johnson has always had this standard of approaching young impressionable men.

He has an amazing track record with developing defensive linemen; five first team AA, multiple NFL draft picks while at PSU and since coming to OSU. The next message is a pretty good reason to run through a wall for him. No room for average in his world or the Ohio State football world and Urban Meyer is obviously grateful. One thing to keep in mind if you haven’t seen this yet, he is fired up!

Very lucky to have a coach like Larry Johnson on this staff to push our team past THE EDGE to become ELITE pic.twitter.com/9eD0FiEd0i

After watching that video last night:

"If you're Elite today, grab someone and take them with you" Larry Johnson. This quote will stick #LeadersLead

Leaders lead was the gist of the message from Coach Johnson to the young men listening and the above quote will stick with me and several fans for a very long time. It obviously hit home with my comrade Shannon Sommers.

If you are someone who is okay with being average, there’s no place for you in this football program. Coach Johnson’s(and Shannon’s) point here is don’t let those people be average. Grab them, pick them up, motivate them to come with you and pass #TheEdge to help them elite!

I ran through my wall for Coach Johnson, what do you think those players will do with that same motivation?
