Buckeyes manage to pull out road win with closing surge

LINCOLN, Neb. -- The switch flipped to "on" in the nick of time to save the Ohio State women's basketball team yesterday afternoon in the Devaney Sports Center.
The 18th-ranked Buckeyes (7-2) suddenly found the short circuit that left them stumbling in the dark throughout the first half against Nebraska, fixed the problem on the fly and watched the offense come to life like a string of Christmas lights in the final seconds of a 69-65 win.
Sophomore center Jantel Lavender, held in check for much of the game by the Huskers, used a jump hook to break a 60-60 tie with 21.6 seconds to play.
"I knew that was the deal sealer right there," Lavender said. "I practice that (shot). Repetition makes it easy when you do it in the game. I practice it all the time in practice, before practice just working on the hook shot."
