Watson, Crick & A Twist
I didn't get to see this game last night, but the result and box score from this morning are kind of instructive in re the fate of Texas in the Big 12.

Texas St isn't one of your big fish (though they are of to a 2-0 start)
A&M have pretensions to make a big noise in the Big12.

A&M won 44-31 last night in front of a crowd depleted by orders for the evacuation preceding landfall of Hurricane Rita.
Thoguh their offensive production looks impressive it is important to remember the stature of their opposition. In that light there is more for A&M to worry about than there is to cheer. The Aggies gave up over 480 yards of offense to a much lesser opponent. This cannot augur well for their Conference campaign.

It appears at this stage that the Horns truly have little to fear from this team out of College Station, TX.

The result also provides a nice counter-point for those urging devotion to high-octane offense for the Buckeyes. Put Texas St. in front of the Bucks D and no way do they give up 31 points. Nice though it is to have a highlight reel with flourishes from the O, it is far more comforting to me to see strong Defensive play.

The aggies lack a strong defense, and were gashed for 378 yards passing last night. They remain pretenders for Conference play.

I wish that you could have watch the game in ohio, it was truely comical. If it weren't for stupid penalties that kept drives alive/ killed drives, Tx state could have won. Oh yeah and if you have never heard of texas state. They are a former teachers school that recently changed their name from southwest texas state to just texas state. They are a 1aa school that lost to sam houston last year. Yes the same sam houston squad that let Texas tech put up 80 on them this past week. GREATNESS, oh yeah and if there was any doubt, the big12 is REALLY DOWN

 High Lonesome, that makes me feel better, honestly. After the B10's performance, especially in week 2, I thought the conference was over-rated this year. It probably was (we'll find out), but DAMN the Big XII is down. I didn't think I'd say this for quite a while, but the Pac 10 is a better conference this year.

It's alright, though. Your guys have an easier road ahead of them...just don't get over-confident.
