TORONTO (CP) - Canadian wheelchair racer Jeff Adams says he's going to fight a two-year suspension for testing positive for cocaine.
"I hope this is going to be a case that shakes the drug testing world," he said during a news conference Tuesday.
Adams says cocaine got into his system by accident and resurfaced at last year's Canadian wheelchair marathon championships in Ottawa through a contaminated catheter.
He plans to file an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausaunne, Switzerland, the highest tribunal in the sports world. He is also filing complaints with the federal and Ontario human rights commissions and taking the case to the Ontario Superior Court of Justice.

I have to ask, just being completely naive about modes of cocaine ingestion used by top-flight wheelchair athletes.

How, in hades does it accidentally get into your system?

I can imagine on hands, in hair, on skin, but in your system? Did someone apply a poultice of cooling cocaine enriched balm to his already nerve damaged extremities?

Plus, the half-life of cocaine in your system is remarkably fast, it is in fact not an easy drug to track if consumed say a week earlier - to whit:

In the 57-page judgment from the Sport Dispute Resolution Centre of Canada, Adams claimed he involuntarily ingested the drug six nights earlier when the woman shoved her fingers in his mouth without his consent.

So, can cocaine be detected six nights post ingestion in a highly irregular user?

Wasau commercial moment - No, it cannot: 1 to 3 days after a single use. For cocaine or it's metabolic breakdown products to show up in your Urine you have to be one serious white-lining user or the wheelchair bound equivalent of the '90's bane - a crack ho.

I call emphatic Bullshit on this one. In fact, without fear of contradiction I can tell you that Jeff Adams doesn't have a leg to stand on.
