My name is Slim Smith and I am the Metro Columnist of the East Valley/Scottsdale Tribune, a newspaper that circulates throughout the eastern part of the phoenix metro area.
I would like to hear from folks who are planning to come out for the Fiesta Bowl. I am particularly interested in anyone who's plans are unorthodox, odd, amazing, etc. Finally, if you have an interesting/unusual story related to Buckeye football, I want to hear from you. My e-mail address is [email protected]KS and GO BUCKEYES!!!

I don't know that I am what you are looking for slim, but I have exciting (for me anyways) news that I wanted to share with BP and it fits into this thread...

I work in Columbus for a company that represents one of tOSU's major sponsors, and found out on Friday that I received an extraordinary gift...

All expense paid trip to the Fiesta Bowl with tOSU Athletic Department!!!

The owner of my company and myself each received a pair of tickets that includes flight, ground transportation, hotel stay (same hotel as the team), invitations to a few of tOSU events in AZ during the weekend, and of course tickets to the game.

I can't believe that I received this honor and have been gleaming since Friday when I found out about it. I am so incredibly psyched about this and have to tell everyone I come in contact with - including forums!

Oh yeah I almost forgot, my first born child is due January 15th - what a tremendous start to 2006!!!

This in no way has anything to do with a trip to Tempe for me personally but I heard from a very good source that only 15,000 ducats were given to tOSU and Notre Dame. The rest are being allocated to corporate sponsors within the Tempe business and outlaying areas along with other unamed contributions. That just does not seem right to me. In the 2003 Fiesta bowl it seems like the whole BuckeyeNation was on hand for that one and the 2004 game against Kansas State seemed the same with the difference being that K-State brought many more fans for that game. Maybe Slim Smith can give a better explanation on why this is. That is if it's true.

and given the absurd demand for tickets... most of those people will sell those tickets on ebay for a huge profit... and the stadium will be filled with crazy fans as usual!

I know someone on here said they were gonna drive from Ohio to Tempe. That's like a freakin 30 hour drive. Dammn.

I almost spent $2000 on 4 tickets that were put up on ebay yesterday. 2 G's for me...a college student. Almost did it. Pretty crazy. Actually at $500 a ticket, that's a steal considering the average going price is closer to $700.

My plane some how has a lay over in Vegas. Its kinda odd cause I have to switch airlines and everything 10 hours after landing in Vegas and then I have another 6 hour lay over in Vegas on my way back. Odd how airlines route flights :wink2:

...6 hours might not be enough...

When you get to the cashiers window you might find long lines of Buckeye fans with inexplicable lay overs.
