OHSAA wants more exposure, revenue

The association that coordinates Ohio's high-school sports tournaments has a plan to give you a front-row seat at the games.
As it is now, few experience the deafening noise in Canton's C.T. Branin Natatorium during the state swimming and diving championships. The same goes for the electricity in the crowd as the lead pack of runners enters Scioto Downs during the state cross country championships. And even fewer have seen a field-hockey game, let alone a state-tournament showdown.

High schools: OHSAA rejects TV, Internet rights bids

It's back to the drawing board for the Ohio High School Athletic Association and potential partners for a statewide television- and Internet-rights package.
The OHSAA's Board of Control passed a resolution yesterday not to accept any of the proposals that were submitted and to reopen the bidding process for 30 days. The athletic association hopes to have 130 semifinal and championship contests in its 24 sanctioned sports broadcast in some form.
