Ryan Hamby on the John Mackey Award watch list

Looks like Ryan Hamby has been named to the John Mackey Award watch list. Congrats Ryan!

There isn't a good source that I can find for this news release. All info seems to be from individual schools who have a player on the list. Of course OSU's site has no info on this and The Nassau County Sports Commission (who presents the award) doesn't seem to have any information of their web site (or I'm looking in the wrong place). Anyway, here's a link to the Duke site which lists Ryan as being on the watch list. Please post any additional info if you run across anything

It's a relatively weak year for TEs going into the season. Ryan showed some really good pass catching abilities, if we use him enough, he could have a real shot of getting to be a finalist.

The knock on RH has been his blocking, hopefully another offseason has allowed him to beef up and keep his speed/quickness. It really is too bad about LI, he could have had such a great opportunity to play and contribute this year.

The Nassau website sucks...they said they "recently relaunched" the site and that some of their old links won't work. Well, dipshits, fix the links before relaunching. Morons.

Mili, I don't know how recently that site (NCSC) was relaunched. It looks the same as it was 1-2 years ago ... horrible. That's why I was hoping to find the news release at some other news outlet. Their site is difficult to navigate and doesn't have even 25% of the information you'd think they would have listed. Thanks for the Mack Brown info.

John Mackey is an outstanding individual, and having his name on an award bearing his name would be awesome for Ryan. He'll have to work on some things to get to "that level" but that list is a fairly pedestrian lot, so I think he could compare favorably if the QB looks for him as much as they have been.

Well Heath Miller was the best TE in the nation last year, so he's the man to beat. It's amazing how Kellen Winslow beat him out last year for all the awards and AA teams with all those TD receptions he had...what a joke.

Hamby has a real chance to shine in the offense this year. He's as experienced a receiver as we have, and has shown a knack for getting open in the endzone. Also, there's no Irizarry to battle for playing time.

That would be an interesting development. Greenies for you if this one comes to light. That would be good scoop. Not good news, but good scoop. People are riding him hard right now, but how soon we forget the vicious down block he threw on the winning TD run by Mo and his great catch against NC State in the Shoe for 6.

Terrible news if true, hopefully it's not. I have a question though. What the hell is up with him wearing one of his socks all the way up and one down? That's the tackiest thing I think I've ever seen. How much more ghetto can it get?
