The staff is doing a superb job this year at getting the class mostly wrapped up in a timely fashion. Only 6-8 spots left by my calculations. :osu:
...and not only that, but wrapped up with a LOT of their first choices with positions... Nick included.

Welcome to the Buckeye Family, from one Westervillian to another

TE Vannett 16th member of 2011 class
By TIM MAY

Tight end Nick Vannett of Westerville Central High School this afternoon became the 16th commitment to Ohio State?s 2011 football recruiting class.
?I feel great. I?m excited to say I?m going to be a Buckeye,? Vannett said.
At 6 feet 6, 240 pounds, he?s the second tight end in the class, joining Jeff Heuerman of Naples, Fla. But Vannett, who picked OSU over Tennessee and Virginia Tech, said he saw it as becoming part of Ohio State as a whole.

?I was looking for a school where I knew I was going to be comfortable with the people and with the academic side of things,? Vannett said. ?I want that degree to take me somewhere in life.

?Ohio State has great people, real down to earth people, and they have something no other school has in the tradition. I just want to be a part of that.?

That makes two of us Westervillians who are proud to see one of our local players have an opportunity to play for coach Tressel and the Buckeyes.

Being in the Westerville (Central) district, I've followed the program since it's inception just 6 or so years ago. When the program was looking for a new head coach for the 2009 season I was really pushing for Andy Katzenmoyer, but I think the administration made a good selection with Coach Magistro. I think the program is quietly becoming stronger and stronger, and Nick Vannett is a good representation of the school and football program. First Ben Buchanan, now Nick. Hopefully JT keeps his eyes up here in northern Westerville for potential athletes in the future.

Good luck to Nick, great to have a local kid playing for the good guys.

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

Nick Vannett's head might still be spinning a little over being considered one of the nation's elite college football prospects, but the tight end from Westerville Central has made his choice: Ohio State.

Vannett, who is 6 feet 4 and 240 pounds and a four-star prospect according to Rivals.com, yesterday became the 16th member of the Buckeyes' 2011 recruiting class.

"I was looking for a school where I knew I was going to be comfortable with the people and with the academic side of things," Vannett said. "I want that degree to take me somewhere in life. Ohio State has great people, real down-to-earth people, and they have something no other school has in the tradition. I want to be a part of that."
