Welcome to the 3rd year of our internal tBBC pick measuring contest. After Week 3, I have a narrow lead over the field, but Joe, Charles and Mike are only one “good” week from overtaking me. On to this week’s picks:

BYU @ Michigan

Patrick: After play two patsies, BYU comes to town and gives Jimmy his second loss.

Mike: BYU

Ken: Wolverines pull this out at home. Their defense plays well enough and their offense doesn’t screw it up. Sound familiar?

WVa: BYU – BYU had UCLA on the ropes and couldn’t hang on. Should take this one(plus I NEVER pick TTUN)

JC: BYU hands the Puke & Rust their 2nd loss.

Charles: BYU – The Wolverines have raised the confidence of their fans over the past two games but those games were against bad teams, BYU is actually good.

Joe: BYU @ Michigan — Bronco > Jimbo

Scott: BYU wins. I’ll take Mormons over morons any day.

  • A very strong preference/belief in BYU

Bowling Green @ Purdue

Patrick: Purdue has played everyone rather tough this season but will not have enough for BOWLING GREEN.

Mike: Bowling Green

Ken: Bowling Green takes Boilermakers further off the rails.

WVa: Bowling Green – BGSU rolls and the MACtion against the B1G continues.

JC: Bowling Green – The Falcons will runaway with this one.

Charles: Bowling Green Neither team has anything resembling a defense, Bowling Green has the better offense

Joe: Purdue — I like what I saw against VT for a half. I think it translates to a win against equal competition

Scott: Bowling Green – I may be out of my Falcon mind but BG wins.

  • Looks like another MAC > B1G game

Central Michigan @ Michigan State

Patrick: SPARTY hangs 60 on the Chips.

Mike: Michigan State

Ken: Michigan State – the MSU offense overwhelms CMU

WVa: Michigan State Sparty needed a break before B1G. Just like Buckeyes show no mercy from TSUN or their own state actually

JC: The Spartans get it together. I see a big win.

Charles: Michigan State — The only hope the Chips have is if the Spartans are still drunk from celebrating moving up to #2 in the country, Dantonio won’t let that happen

Joe: Michigan State — Fire up the Chipper for Dan Enos

Scott: Michigan State – A Spartan crushing. Central Michigan doesn’t have a chance.

  • Pretty clear that MSU wins this easily.

Kansas @ Rutgers

Patrick: Even RUTGERS can’t screw this game up.

Mike: Rutgers

Ken: Rutgers – Scarlet Knights are almost a 2 TD favorite even with WR Leonte Carroo out.. my god, Kansas

WVa: Rutgers – Rutgers is hurting after PSU loss and Kansas is horrible. We’ll see but I’m taking the Scarlet Knights

JC: Rutgers has something to prove & this isn’t basketball. Rutgers over the Jayhawks.

Charles: Rutgers — Credit to Rutgers for scheduling two games against Power 5 teams in the non-conference and they’ll actually win one of them.

Joe: Rutgers — OH. MY. This Game. I rather watch a Dumpster burn.

Scott: Rutgers – both teams stink. I’ll take the home team

  • It looks like Rutgers edges the Fightin’Toto’s..

Southern Miss @ Nebraska

Patrick: NEBRASKA has lost two heartbreakers this season but this will be a walkover for them

Mike: Nebraska

Ken: Nebraska – Huskers even their record before B1G play begins. Prudent scheduling pays off.

WVa: Nebraska Cornhuskers rebound nicely

JC: Nebraska & who? the Cornhuskers all the way.

Charles: Nebraska — Nebraska bounces back after coming up short against Miami.

Joe: Nebraska — O’Riley O’Riley why is a win so disheartening? People want you gone, you’re just starting the Party.

Scott: Nebraska – Unless Brett Favre plays Nebraska in a cake walk

  • A favorable schedule gets Nebraska to .500

Indiana @ Wake Forest

Patrick: INDIANA gets a week 3 home win but go on the road….and gets a road win.

Mike: Wake Forest

Ken: Indiana – the WF QB is out, so I guess that helps the IU defense?

WVa: Indiana – Hoosiers in a close one

JC: Indiana continues their magical beginning.

Charles: Wake Forest — Wake Forest wins thanks to having a bit better of a defense.

Joe: Indiana — Tickets for this game are 12 Bucks. That’s the most interesting fact about this game.

Scott: Wake Forest – yuck. I’ll go with wake.

  • It’s a noon game; hopefully I’ll still be on the golf course

Maryland @ West Virginia

Patrick: West Virginia – I’ve been to WVU for a game and Maryland will find out why I hated it as well.

Mike: West Virginia

Ken: West Virginia – Bob Huggins Dana Holgorsen gets the home win

WVa: Maryland – I need the Terps to help quiet the sound I keep hearing here in home state

JC: West Virginia -Only Maryland has played a good team so far. but I see WVA here.

Charles: West Virginia – West Virginia because why the hell not?!

Joe: West Virginia — Start the hype train on the Mountaineers after a win over Maryland this week.

Scott: West Virginia – Let’s go Mountaineers.

  • A side-hill lean for WVU

North Texas @ Iowa

Patrick: IOWA gets a big win vs Pitt last week and they’ll continue on that W track.

Mike: Iowa

Ken: Iowa – Fighting Ferentz’s dispatch Mean Green before heading to Madison next week.

WVa: Iowa Iowa puts the hurt in the armadillos. Wait, that’s from a movie

JC: Iowa – The Hawkeyes in a thriller

Charles: Iowa – Ferentz and the Hawkeyes continue to build false hope:

Joe: Iowa — Oh My Ferentz Oh My Ferentz PUNT THE BALL AND YE SHALL WIN. NO the Mean Green they can’t stop you oh my Ferentz win them all!

Scott: Iowa – The Hawkeyes in a romp

  • Iowa, and not much too it.

Ohio @ Minnesota

Patrick: MINNEMOTA looked past Kent to this week against Ohio but they’ll be prepared.

Mike: Minnesota

Ken: Minnesota – Assuming Gophers can get functional QB play. Sound familiar?

WVa: Minnesota – MACtion continues its onslaught but Gophers defend their house here

JC: Minnesota here

Charles: Minnesota – I suspect Minnesota was overlooking Kent State, don’t think it will happen two weeks in a row

Joe: Minnesota — I feel a big bounce back on the way for the Gophers. They have the B1G COY Right?

Scott: Minnesota – Minnesota fats!

  • Goldie rolls. That doesn’t even sound right..

San Diego State @ Penn State

Patrick: PENN STATE showed us they can make stripes in their stands and they showed is they’re also 1-0 in the B1G and they’ll get another non conference win this week.

Mike: Penn State

Ken: Penn State – This game opened with PSU -9.5, is now PSU -15. something is up; maybe it’s the PSU offense.

WVa: Penn State – PSU playing decent football since a temple wake-up/knock-out

JC: Penn State – The Aztecs try – but Penn State will prove to be too much.

Charles: Penn State – PSU has been improving since their loss in the season opener, San Diego State has not been improving since their season opening win

Joe: Penn State — Attack of the fightin’ Hackenbergs

Scott: Penn State – hate to pick ’em, but I’ll take State Penn.

  • It looks like we anticipate that Happy Valley will at least be satisfied.

Western Michigan @ Ohio State

Patrick: After and very lack luster performance, the BUCKEYES get on track offensively and roll Western Michigan.

Mike: Ohio State

Ken: Ohio State – Buckeyes are 31.5 pt favorite. Uh-huh. This will be a solid win, keyed by defense.

WVa: Ohio State no team from the state up north comes here and wins. Buckeyes roll after national media doubts they belong

JC: Ohio State – The Buckeyes after a grilling from Urban will finally step up.

Charles: Ohio State – Look for OSU to take out some frustration after last week’s lousy performance on offense.

Joe: Ohio State — Joey Bosa is going to be rowin’ into the backfield with some EASE.

Scott: Ohio State – The Buckeyes finally show up

  • It looks like a pretty convincing win for the Buckeyes. Let’s hope so.

Middle Tennessee @ Illinois

Patrick: The ILLINI get back on track.

Mike: Middle Tennessee

Ken: Illinois – I don’t have a good feel for this game, but like Charles, I’ll go with Big Ten loyalty

WVa: Illinois – coin flip here

JC: Illinois – Illinois is the winner in this one.

Charles: Illinois – Tough call as both teams have look good against bad opponents and gotten killed against the one decent to good opponent they faced, I’ll go with Big Ten loyalty

Joe: Illinois — Tin Soldiers and Cubit’s coming. The Blue Raiders are knocked off their throne.

Scott: Illinois – Illinois is an easy winner.

  • WVa went with the coin flip (it’s the referee in him). That might have been the best way to pick this game

Ball State @ Northwestern

Patrick: NORTHWESTERN has won the nerd bowl and continue to be perfect this season.

Mike: Northwestern

Ken: Northwestern – Wildcats a two and a half TD favorite?! Hide the women and children

WVa: Northwestern – the quiet storm of the B1G and probably the COTY Wildcats humiliate Ball State

JC: Northwestern continues their statement.

Charles: Northwestern – Its not always pretty but the kitties keep finding ways to win.

Joe: Northwestern – THE BEST TEAM IN THE COUNTRY RIDES AGAIN

Scott: State doesn’t have the, uh, yeah. Northwestern easily.

  • Northwestern seems to be playing well this pre-conference season. We hope they keep it up.

Hawai’i @ Wisconsin

Patrick: Will Hawaii wear some cool unis will racking up the frequent flier miles as they travel to Madison to rack up another L to the BADGERS?

Mike: Wisconsin

Ken: Wisconsin – OSU fans should tune in to see how an odd defensive front is blocked.

WVa: Wisconsin – the difference in the games will cause teams to say Whiskey is the best team in the B1G

JC: Wisconsin – I’d like to see Hawaii in the upset – but that’s a dream. Wisconsin wins.

Charles: Wisconsin – If this were in Hawaii I’d say there would be a chance at an upset but its not and there isn’t.

Joe: Wisconsin — I would pay a lot of money to see the Rainbows down the Badgers. #NotGoingToHappen

Scott: Wisconsin – I’d like to see Hawaii in the upset too. But I’ll put the whisky down and pick Wisconsin.

  • Wisconsin should win this, but if it comes down to a pre-game haka vs 3rd qtr ‘Jump’.. go with the haka
