Welcome to the 3rd year of our internal tBBC pick measuring contest. After Week 4, I have a narrow lead over the field, but Joe, Charles and Scott are only one “good” week from overtaking me. I’m happy with my lead, but now we enter Conference play. Conference play is very … unpredictable. On to this week’s picks:

Army @ Penn State

Patrick: PENN STATE: said screw it and got their B1G opener out of the way to play Army this week.

Mike: Penn State

Ken: Penn State – PSU too strong for Cadets.

WVa: Penn State – PSU will roll in this one last warm up for B1G play

JC: PENN STATE will handle the over matched Cadets.

Charles: Penn State Army lost to Fordham, a I-AA team to start the season, I think PSU should be fine in this one

Joe: Penn State — There is some hope that Penn State can be the team we expect them to be. Loss mightily to Temple but hold on against Army.

Scott: PENN STATE should have no trouble with this one.

  • Penn State’s scheduling pays off with a win

Iowa @ Wisconsin

Patrick: IOWA may be the most consistent B1G team so far in 2015.

Mike: Iowa

Ken: Wisconsin – Ferentz will find a way to dampen the Iowa offense.

WVa: Wisconsin huge early season match-up for the B1G west will see the Badgers defense shine

JC: Wisconsin – I can only hope for a surprise with the Hawkeyes. But reality is slowly settling in. Wisconsin will win this one

Charles: Wisconsin – Statistically these are two evenly matched teams but I think I’ll give the edge to the Badgers, partially because I have little faith in Ferentz

Joe: Wisconsin — WIN IT FOR BERT WIN IT FOR BERT WIN IT FOR BERT

Scott: I would love to take Iowa. But I can’t. Gotta take WISCONSIN.

  • Wisconsin gets the (small) nod, according to our Staff.

Minnesota @ Northwestern

Patrick: After struggling with the MAC the past two weeks, Minnesota will lose their B1G opener to NORTHWESTERN. I mean, it’s not October yet so NORTHWESTERN can’t lose.

Mike: Northwestern

Ken: Northwestern – Northwestern Defense > Minnesota Offense

WVa: Northwestern: Gophers woes continue.

JC: This is actually a bigger game than most believe. But I feel NORTHWESTERN is for real.

Charles: Northwestern Neither team makes anything look easy so this should be an ugly one but I’ll give the edge to the Kitties and their defense

Joe: Minnesota – Riverboat Gamblers live or die on flowing water. So will Northwestern on Saturday, because Gophers are golden. I gotta make up ground somehow right?

Scott: NORTHWESTERN is for real. Not sure the Gophers are.

  • We are Wildcats! Except for Joe…

Purdue @ Michigan State

Patrick: SPARTY wins their opener w ease.

Mike: Michigan State

Ken: Michigan State – Purdue defense, last in the B1G, can’t hold up against MSU

WVa: Michigan State Sparty gets no test here

JC: The Spartans are much too strong for the Boilermakers. Look for a major statement from MS.

Charles: Michigan State Central Michigan was probably a tougher opponent for MSU

Joe: Michigan State — You never pick up ground by picking Purdue though. NEVER PICK PURDUE.

Scott: SPARTY will lose a game this year. Just not this one.

  • This was a pretty easy call for us to make.

Nebraska @ Illinois

Patrick: The ILLINI surprise all and start B1G play 1-0.

Mike: Nebraska

Ken: Nebraska – Huskers, for not any really good reason I can think of..

WVa: Nebraska – Cornhuskers stay in the discussion early on

JC: Nebraska – Illinois has a good team. But Nebraska needs this one. I feel the Cornhuskers will step up.

Charles: Nebraska – This is a tough one, Tommy Armstrong leads the Big Ten in most passing categories but the Cornhusker defense is awful. Edge to the Cornhuskers due to having played a lot of close ones already.

Joe: Nebraska – Bill Cubit vs. Mike Riley. The battle of happy coaches…

Scott: The ILLINI shock the Huskers.

  • Staff leans towards Nebraska, but not that enthusiastically.

Ohio State @Indiana

Patrick: OSU will get a test from Indiana….well, cause they always seem to since Urbs got here.

Mike: Ohio State

Ken: Ohio State – IU’s offense will initially keep this exciting/tense. As the game settles into its rhythm, OSU overpowers Indiana.

WVa: Ohio State – Buckeyes continue to roll in their home west of Columbus. Fans will not disappoint either

JC: Ohio State – The Hoosiers are better than we all think. I feel the Buckeyes will struggle initially before stepping up & winning as expected.

Charles: Ohio State – Indiana’s “defense” should continue to help the OSU offense look better

Joe: Ohio State – Bucks Win Big

Scott: OSU rolls in a road game that’ll feel like a home game.

  • Buckeyes picked by a bunch of “homers”. But then, the spread is 3 TD’s, so…

Michigan @ Maryland

Patrick: Jimmy and TTUN gets their first B1G win.

Mike: Michigan

Ken: Michigan – Michigan is playing well this season; Maryland isn’t. Odds have gone from Michigan -11 to -16.

WVa: Maryland – Hate to say they’re back. But they are. Still won’t pick them. Ever

JC: TTUN and Jimbo will continue their delusional march of an upset in THE GAME. TTUN unfortunately. (This pains me greatly to make this pick). I hope I am wrong & the Terps surprise us all.

Charles: Michigan – Harbaugh’s impact definitely showed up last week, the Wolverines continue to build false hope by beating up an awful Maryland team

Joe: Michigan — “I wanna get physical with turtles.” — Jim Harbaugh (This is not a good visual – Ken)

Scott: TTUN crushes Maryland. It’s only Maryland.

  • Michigan almost unanimous, as WVa wanders off somewhere
