After Week 8, I (69 correct picks) have a narrow lead over Joe (66), with Patrick (64), Charles (64) and Patrick (64) close behind. Scott led the pack last week, correctly picking all 5 games. Well done, Scott!

There are again only 5 B1G games this week, so there isn’t much room for error nor shuffling. The Buckeyes are off this week, so there will be no “homer” picks by the tBBC Staff. With Ohio State “resting” this week, I guess we can all sit back and enjoy the games.

I noticed that Joe, Patrick, Charles and I have the same picks. So, no blood this week. Scott has the same picks, except he has Purdue > Wisconsin.

Illinois @ Penn State

Patrick: Penn State – this is a tough game to pick. Illinois has been a difficult team for most this year. I’m gonna go w PENN STATE only because it’s at Happy Valley.

Mike: Penn State

Ken: Penn State – I’m really not sold on either offense, but I think that PSU defense carries the day. Vegas has O/U at 43 points, so they aren’t expecting too much, either.

WVa: Penn State Nittany’s Lions should win easily. Is Illinois the worst team ever?

JC: Penn State – I am in a Nittany Lions frame of mind in this one – though Illinois is showing promise.

Charles: Penn State – This will be a close one but I’ll go with Penn State due to being at home.

Joe: Penn State – The only thing that Illinois is good at defensively is stopping teams on third down. Christian Hackenberg did a great job on Saturday of making big plays happen in the first two downs. That continues on Saturday against Illinois.

Scott: Penn State – Penn State should roll.

Brandon: Penn State– But it wouldn’t shock me if the Illini pull this off.

Michael: Penn State – I feel sorry for Hackenberg sometimes though.

  • Unanimous support, or belief, in Penn State. Let’s hope Hackenberg escapes unscathed.

Nebraska @ Purdue

Patrick: Nebraska – NEBRASKA finally gets a game it won’t blow in the 4th qtr.

Mike: Purdue

Ken: Nebraska – I agree with Charles, below. Purdue has turned into the “good fer what ails ya” tonic. And, the farmers are restless in CornCountry.

WVa: Nebraska – Huskers cannot lose another close game. Can they?

JC: Purdue – Purdue isn’t too good. Nebraska is losing too close & Lincoln is showing issues. The logic pick here is the Cornhuskers. But being the upset minded windbag I have become …. I shall go with the Boilermakers.

Charles: Nebraska – Playing Purdue is a sure solution for Nebraska’s woes, at least for a week.

Joe: Nebraska – Even Mike Riley cannot lose this game for Nebraska… I hope. I think. I really believe…. Um Mike Riley. PLEASE WIN.

Scott: Purdue: tough one. Boiler Up

Brandon: Purdue – Nebraska, should be able to roll but the way this season is going Purdue will win by one.

Michael: Nebraska – They have to win again some day, don’t they?

  • Slight edge to Nebraska, but Muskingum alum Hazell gets some support. Just not from a fellow alum this week.

Rutgers @ Wisconsin

Patrick: Wisconsin – Injuries could dictate who wins this game. Both teams dealing w/a full load of injuries. Like the Penn State game, I’ll go w WISCONSIN because it’s at Camp Randal.

Mike: Wisconsin

Ken: Wisconsin – Wisconsin’s defense is very good, there offense is very ‘meh’. It really won’t matter.

WVa: Wisconsin Whiskey tries to stay relevant

JC: Wisconsin – Rutgers isn’t big time yet no matter what they say. The Badgers win. The Scarlet Knights take another big loss in this one.

Charles: Wisconsin — The Badgers have a defense, the Scarlet Knights do not, end of story

Joe: Wisconsin — Joel Stave is the difference for Wisconsin, as he returns back in the lineup. Wait what? Joel Stave is the difference? I have Wisconsin winning? Man, Rutgers really isn’t shooting the cannon on Saturday are they?

Scott: Wisconsin – Ha ha. Big ol’ jug of Whiskeh

Brandon: Wisconsin – Maybe Flood will finally be fired after this?

Michael: Wisconsin – Everyone gets better playing Rutgers

  • Wisconsin rolls at home. No doubt about it.

Maryland @ Iowa

Patrick: Iowa – IOWA continues its role towards Indianapolis.

Mike: Iowa

Ken: Iowa – Iowa’s offense is a little better than Maryland’s. Their defense is a lot better. There you have it.

WVa: Iowa Hawkeyes continue to impress

JC: Iowa – I’m going with Iowa (Big gamble!)

Charles: Iowa — Maryland is just awful and won’t pose much of a challenge as Iowa continues its run at the playoffs

Joe: Iowa — I’m TEMPTED to take Maryland here in a Perry Hills beats Iowa with his legs type of game. Kirk Ferentz is the king of the Big Ten though, so I don’t ever go against him. Ever. He has never failed. That’s why he makes so much money. (Joe just blew up the Sarcasm-o-meter)

Scott: Iowa– Ha ha part 2. Iowa has a big bowl of turtle soup.

Brandon: Iowa – I still don’t take you seriously but have fun being a top 10 win for OSU or MSU in the Championship game.

Michael: Iowa – They could be undefeated playing in the Big 10 title game

  • tBBC Staff is enamored with Iowa. Or maybe an aversion to picking Maryland.

Michigan @ Minnesota

Patrick: TTUN – this game is actually tough to pick. Will ttun mentally be over what happened against Sparty? I don’t think Minnesota has enough offense, TTUN in a rout.

Mike: Michigan (paraphrased, of course)

Ken: Michigan

WVa: Michigan – Gophers caught looking ahead? LOL (It’s gotten to the point where WVa is picking TTUN)

JC: Minnesota – I just cannot pick the TTUN. If I do will it “really” move me up the ladder into contention in this competition? No! So I feel better that I would not have to pick TTUN (thus selling my soul) in order to win. I am free to say Golden Gophers all the way.

Charles: Michigan – The key to this one will be how Michigan rebounds mentally from their loss to Sparty, the bye week should help with that and unfortunately I think the Wolverines win this one.

Joe: Michigan – I’m hoping the team comes out for Jerry Kill and wins a big one on Saturday. I just don’t see it though with Michigan off the bye.

Scott: Michigan – Would love to see Minnesota win. Won’t happen

Brandon: Michigan – This may possibly be the most boring game ever played.

Michael: TTUN – I’m not saying anything good about them…

  • All Michigan, sometimes reluctantly, except JC.
