After Week 7, I (65 correct picks) have a narrow lead over Joe (62), with Patrick (60) and Charles (60) close behind. Joe led the pack last week, correctly picking 5 of the 6 games.

There are only 5 B1G games this week, so there isn’t much room for error; nor to gain ground. We want to welcome our two newest writers, Brandon and Michael, into the Pick ’em contest. Consider this part of their indoctrination..

I noticed that Joe, Patrick, Charles and I have the same picks. So, no blood this week. I guess we can all sit back and enjoy the play on the field. I know that I will.

Northwestern @ Nebraska

Patrick: Nebraska – NEBRASKA finally gets off the schneid and gets a B1G win. Again, it’s October, that means Northwestern doesn’t win.

Mike: Nebraska

Ken: Nebraska – Huskers should take this game. If they don’t lose it on the last play of the game, they won’t lose.

WVa: Nebraska – Will Wildcats rebound from their recent collapse? I don’t think so.

JC: Nebraska – N’Western may have been overrated ,,, but Nebraska is having issues. I have to go with the Cornhuskers here just based on that perhaps N’Western is “overrated”.

Charles: Nebraska – Northwestern doesn’t look like they are ready to rebound and they don’t have the passing game to exploit the Cornhusker defense

Joe: Nebraska — I’ll take corn husking over a purple majestic Wildcat every single time.

Scott: N’Western – Northwestern circles wagon and wins.

Brandon: Nebraska – When the wheels come off of Northwestern the season usually ends badly.

Michael: Nebraska Nebraska, the wheels have fallen off for Northwestern.

  • Overwhelming support, or belief, in Nebraska. Let’s hope it doesn’t come down to the last possession.

Wisconsin @ Illinois

Patrick: Wisconsin – Huge game for the west division here. I think a fully healthy WISCONSIN takes this game in a low scoring affair.

Mike: Wisconsin

Ken: Wisconsin – Wisconsin holding as a TD favorite. Stave needs to be efficient with the ball.

WVa: Wisconsin – Wiscy rolls and gets back into the discussion.

JC: Wisconsin – No doubts.

Charles: Wiscy @ Illinois This is going to be a close one as the Illini are doing better than expected but I give the edge to the Badgers

Joe: Wisconsin – I want to take Illinois but there is no freaking point I won’t catch up if I do.

Scott: Wisconsin – Badgers in a laugher.

Brandon: Wisconsin – Looks like they will get Clement back for this one.

Michael: Wisconsin – Illinois is improved but won’t win this game.

  • It may be a close game, it may be one sided; just like our Staff picks for the Badgers.

Penn State @ Maryland

Patrick: PSU – I hate picking this game w/out knowing the status of Hackenberg but I’m going to go w PSU. I don’t think Maryland can stop the PSU running game.

Mike: Maryland

Ken: PSU – Terps allow 196 yards rushing per game. PSU’s Barkley will have another big Saturday. PSU defense makes the difference.

WVa: PSU – Rebound game for Nittany’s. They need it, too.

JC: PSU – Penn State rebounds.

Charles: PSU -Maryland is just awful

Joe: PSU – James Franklin does well off losses. The Hack Attack explodes on Terp Town!

Scott: PSU – Who does’t beat Maryland?

Brandon: PSU – PSU should be able to bounce back after loss to OSU. Be interesting to see if Maryland can QB run them to death and make this a game.

Michael: PSU – Maryland could be the worst team in the Big 10

  • Overwhelming lean to Penn State. As Patrick suggests, having Hackenberg may help PSU. Maybe.

Indiana @ Michigan State

Patrick: MSU – SPARTY could be in for a huge letdown but then again, it is Indiana.

Mike: Michigan State

Ken: MSU – MSU overpowers Indiana. If Spartans need late game antics to win, it will be Hoosier defense, not Wolverine special teams providing the comedy.

WVa: MSU – Sparty the best team in B1G now? Only time will tell.

JC: MSU – I feel this will be a tougher game than anticipated. IN is good, But Spartans win.

Charles: MSU – In the past I’d go with Sparty blowing this due to riding high after their big win, Dantonio won’t let that happen

Joe: MSU – Michigan State is ramping up for that meeting in November that everyone has circled

Scott: MSU – No letdown for Sparty, but game is close

Brandon: MSU – Wouldn’t be shocked if this was a close one.

Michael: Michigan State – this game scares me though, this has trap game written all over it for Sparty

  • The Staff is pretty confident of a “Sparty, Yes!” game.

Ohio State @ Rutgers

Patrick: Ohio State – I have a feeling this will be JT Barrett and OSU’s coming out party on offense for 2015

Mike: Ohio State

Ken: Ohio State – Rutgers offensive output is comparable to OSU’s. Their defense is not. Buckeyes by 3, and I don’t mean points.

WVa: Ohio State – No matter who is Ohio State’s QB, a chance to separate themselves from the pack

JC: Ohio State – The Buckeyes will overpower the Scarlet Knights. A big win come this Saturday in Jersey

Charles: Ohio State – Rutgers has shown they can be dangerous the past two weeks but the OSU offense is starting to finally look like what we expected.

Joe: Ohio State – You have to live with being a Knight Kyle Flood — It’s time to fall on your sword.

Scott: Ohio State – I could QB to a win over Rutgers.

Brandon: Ohio State – Buckeyes should be able to score some points in this one. We’ll see who the QB will be (spoiler alert: It will be J.T.)

Michael: Ohio State – Of course. If Barrett starts this game could get ugly fast, if Jones starts, Ohio St will still win but look for a slow start.

  • An Ohio State win, keyed by any number of people taking snaps from center; JT, Cardale, Braxton, Scott.
