After Week 6, I have a narrow lead over Patrick and Scott, with Charles and Joe lurking. Those two are good at “lurking”. After the first week in conference play I lost a bit of ground.. On to this week’s picks:
Iowa @ Northwestern
Patrick: Iowa – Just as the calendar turns to October the Wildcats turn back into their losing ways, IOWA wins this easily.
Mike: Iowa
Ken: Iowa – Iowa ekes out another win; after all, it is jNW..
WVa: N’Western – Wildcats rebound because they have to.
JC: N’Western – The Wildcats rebound and will beat a good & improving Hawkeye Team.
Charles: Northwestern – This is a tough one but my gut says go with the Wildcats.
Joe: Iowa – If Iowa takes care of the football, this should be an easy win for them on the road.
Scott: N’Western – Wildcats rebound
Purdue @ Wisconsin
Patrick: Wisconsin – I trusted Purdue last week, won’t happen again, WISCONSIN easily.
Mike: Wisconsin
Ken: Wisconsin – Wisconsin just isn’t that good this season. But, they’re good enough to beat Purdue.
WVa: Purdue – Boilermakers get the win that saves Hazell
JC: Purdue – I want so much to go with Purdue here. But my gut says “NO”. So I will defy both logic & my “gut” – I am stepping out here – Boilermakers in a surprise.
Charles: Wisconsin – Wisconsin wins due to having a defense
Joe: Wisconsin – Another step in the wrong direction for Purdue…
Scott: Wisconsin – I’ll do a shot of whiskey
MSU @ Michigan
Patrick: Michigan State – I’m not buying into the hype yet, ttun hasn’t beat anyone yet and even w the injuries I think SPARTY pulls out a close one
Mike: Michigan
Ken: Michigan – Michigan defense stifles Cook and Michigan offense does just enough (barely) to win.
WVa: Michigan State – Sparty finally exposes TTUN this weekend
JC: Michigan State – I see Connor Cook with a season-defining game here. TTUN will be knocked off that wagon of hope & the Harbaugh false prophecy that seems to be brainwashing Ann Arbor.
Charles: Michigan State – Sparty has injury issues and hasn’t looked great but they keep finding a way to win and they will in this one.
Joe: Michigan State – In as close of a game as this I like experience and QB play. Connor Cook is a much better signal caller and MSU has the swagger in this rivlary. They win a close one.
Scott: Michigan State – Sparty Up
Nebraska @ Minnesota
Patrick: Minnesota – This may be the hardest game to pick this week. Both teams have underachieved and lost/won games they shouldn’t have. Since its at home and they seem to have gotten back on track I’ll go MINNESOTA
Mike: Nebraska –
Ken: Nebraska – Nebraska somehow manages late game theatrics to not lose on the last play of the game. Again.
WVa: Minnesota – Cornhuskers keep their streak alive for disappointing last minute losses. Maybe it really wasn’t the coach?
JC: Minnesota – There’s trouble in Lincoln & it wasn’t Pelini’s fault(??). MN will have a “nice” win
Charles: Minnesota – Nebraska’s lack of defense lets them down again
Joe: Nebraska – Nebraska is due for a close win is like saying the President love to golf.
Scott: Minnesota – Who cares? Gopher a Minnesota win.
Rutgers @ Indiana
Patrick: Indiana – This is the second hardest game to pick, IU seems to be a different team w Diamont in the ball game, again, since this is at home, we’ll go Hoosiers.
Mike: Indiana –
Ken: Indiana – I think Indiana offense (Sudfeld/Howard) is enough to overcome defensive failings. They need to cover Rutgers’ Carroo, though.
WVa: Rutgers – Usually not a good matchup but Scarlet Knights get win over Hoosiers who are reeling since Buckeyes
JC: Rutgers – The Hoosiers have yet to recover from their Buckeye-battle. The Scarlet Knights are thinking they are better than they are. It’ll pan out for them this week. Rutgers gets a win.
Charles: Rutgers – Talk about a slapfight, I’ll go with Rutgers after how they looked last week.
Joe: Indiana – Jordan Howard and Nate Sudfeld are back. The Hoosiers move one game away from being Bowl eligible
Scott: Indiana – Who cares part 2. I’ll take IU.
Penn State @ Ohio State
Patrick: Ohio State – Ohio State There’s no other teams fan base that I hate more than Penn State and although I think OHIO STATE ends up winning this by 3 TD’s, it’ll be close in the early going.
Mike: Ohio State
Ken: Ohio State – This will be an entertaining, close game. Ohio State pulls away midway through 3rd period. Turnovers and field position will be key.
WVa: Ohio State – Buckeyes answer some more questions and have the best game of the season (wishful thinking but thinking VaTech)
JC: Ohio State – I have been saying it each week … look for big numbers by the Buckeyes. This will be a statement game if there is one. Buckeyes will win – the lone question is by how much? I feel a “major” statement, needed, will be delivered. Scarlet & Gray wins big.
Charles: Ohio State Big night game should fire the Buckeyes up for a win.
Joe: Ohio State – This is going to be a close game. Both teams have similar issues on offense and strengths on defense.
Scott: Ohio State – duh
