Welcome to the 3rd year of our internal tBBC pick measuring contest. After Week 5, I have a narrow lead over Patrick and Scott, with Charles and Joe lurking. Those two are good at “lurking”. After the first week in conference play I lost a bit of ground.. On to this week’s picks:

Illinois @ Iowa

Patrick: Iowa – In the battle of “can’t believe they’re undefeated”, IOWA continues on their way.

Mike: Iowa

Ken: Iowa – Iowa should handle this game without too much stress.

WVa: Iowa – Hawkeyes becoming the team to beat in the West

JC: Iowa – The Hawkeyes are a nice surprise – could they be back? In this game I say yes!

Charles: Iowa On paper this is a close matchup, I’ll give the edge to the Hawkeyes due to the home field

Joe: Iowa – I got a bad feeling Illinois is going to ruin the Hawkeye run, but not confident enough to stick with it.

Scott: Iowa

  • Iowa can count on us as “believers”. At least for this game.

Indiana @ Penn State

Patrick: Penn State – After last week I want to pick Indiana w all my heart but PENN STATE pulls out a close one.

Mike: Indiana

Ken: Penn State – Sudfeld and Howard need to be full speed for Hoosiers. I doubt they will be,

WVa: Indiana – Hoosiers bounce back from disappointing loss

JC: Indiana – Depends on Sudfeld & Howard’s recoveries. I am leaning towards IN – Ahh! Let’s stay there. I say Hoosiers in this “mild” surprise.

Charles: Indiana – Indiana has the better offense, Penn State has the better defense, I’ll go with Hoosiers as I just don’t think the PSU offense can generate enough points

Joe: Penn State – If Howard is out, there’s no chance for Indiana in this one.

Scott: Indiana

  • A slight edge for the Hoosiers. If Sudfeld and Howard return, this could be entertaining.

Maryland @ Ohio State

Patrick: Ohio State – Crab cakes and football, that’s what Maryland does…..except this week all they do is crab cakes. OSU in a blow out.

Mike: Ohio State

Ken: Ohio State – Terps have scored 6 points in their last two games. It shouldn’t improve much this week.

WVa: Ohio State – Buckeyes conditions the Terps laying an egg tour

JC: Ohio State – Buckeyes have to step up now. This could be the one they need. Buckeyes big.

Charles: Ohio State – Hopefully the Buckeyes actually make this win look as easy as it should be

Joe: Ohio State – #GoBucks

Scott: Ohio State

  • The Silver Bullets will do their part. The offense needs to do its part

Northwestern @ Michigan

Patrick: Michigan – I’m not sold on either of these teams yet but Pat Fitzgerald hasn’t shown he can win in October, TTUN in a close one.

Mike: Northwestern

Ken: Michigan – This is probably the most interesting game of the day. Sit back with the popcorn and enjoy it!

WVa: Northwestern – Wildcats make their case for the West

JC: Northwestern – NW all the way!

Charles: Michigan – This is a tough one but I’ll give the edge to the home team

Joe: Michigan -The Wolverines are just too physical.

Scott: Northwestern

  • The Staff is evenly split on this game. I guess we’ll have to tune in to find out how it ends.

Michigan State @ Rutgers

Patrick: MSU – Even w their injuries, SPARTY in a rout.

Mike: Michigan State

Ken: MSU – MSU is just too strong and Rutgers a bit shorthanded w/o WR Leonte Caroo

WVa: MSU – Sparty NO continues to survive

JC: MSU – MSU will rebound just as the Buckeyes will.

Charles: MSU – MSU wins but once again not by as much as they should

Joe: MSU – Spartans are greater than Knights.

Scott: MSU

  • Staff had about as much trouble picking MSU as MSU will have with Rutgers.

Minnesota @ Purdue

Patrick: Purdue – PURDUE finally gets on the B1G board.

Mike: Purdue

Ken: Minnesota – Gopher offense isn’t that good, but it’s better than Boilermaker defense

WVa: Minnesota – Gophers needed Purdue right now

JC: Purdue – Purdue looked good last week. They are still flowing too. Boilermakers here.

Charles: Minnesota – The Boilermakers’ “defense” should be the ticket to get the Gopher offense back on track

Joe: Minnesota – I can’t figure out the Gophers but I think Jerry Kill can this week against the Boilermakers

Scott: Minnesota

  • A slight edge to Minnesota, but I may not be interested enough to watch the game

Wisconsin @ Nebraska

Patrick: Nebraska – HUSKERS get Mike Reilly his first B1G win at home

Mike: Wisconsin

Ken: Nebraska – This might be 2nd most interesting game of the day. Badgers will miss RB Corey Clement; QB Joel Stave can’t make up the shortfall.

WVa: Wisconsin – Badgers rebound nicely and get back in the race

JC: Nebraska – I always thought the Badgers were overrated. I “think” I MUST go Cornhuskers in what will be a tight game.

Charles: Wisconsin – Wisconsin’s defense gets them the win

Joe: Wisconsin – I don’t trust Mike Riley in evenly matched games.

Scott: Wisconsin

  • The Staff is somewhat split on this, with a slight edge to Wisconsin. One thing for certain; there will be plenty of ‘red and white’ on the field.
