tBBC Pick’em Week 12: Penultimate Week

After Week 11, I (84 correct picks) am still maintaining a narrow lead over Joe (81), with Scott (79), Charles (79) and Patrick (78) close behind.
All B1G teams are in action this week except for Nebraska. It’s probably just as well. We’re down to 2 regular season games before the BTCG. This isn’t over yet, by any stretch.
Rutgers @ Army
Patrick: Army – We’ll call this the “I have zero idea” game. I’m going to go with ARMY because if you don’t pick Army, you’re not a real American.
Mike: Army
Ken: Army – Cadets’ running game (253 YPG) is better than Ohio State’s. Ohio State ran for 281 yards against Rutgers.
WVa: Army – This could actually be a pretty good game for these two teams. Going with the Black Knights over the Scarlet Knights
JC: Rutgers – Rutgers is 3-7; Army is 2-8; what does this mean? I don’t know – just wanted to point that out. Rutgers is Big 10 & they aren’t TTUN …. so – I have to go with Rutgers ….
Charles: Rutgers @ Army – This one is tough, neither team is good but I’ll pick Rutgers since they’ve beaten more than one 1-A opponent.
Joe: Rutgers @ Army — Rutgers is in a bad place when they are dogs to Army, even though the game is on the road. STILL, I’m riding with the Scarlet Knights here. Their last four losses have been to teams that have a combined record of 30-10. And That’s with Nebraska’s crazy six-loss record, that isn’t a true indication of how good the Huskers are. Rutgers bounce back this week.

Brandon: Rutgers – Rutgers is not very good but they should be able to handle Army.
Michael: Rutgers – Why are they playing Army in November??
Michigan State @ Ohio State
Patrick: Ohio State – The game of the year for the Buckeyes (until next week). OHIO STATE will need to be dominant on the the offensive line to win this game, which I think they will.
Mike: Ohio State
Ken: Ohio State – Buckeyes are 2 TD favorites. I’ll take a 1 TD win. This will be a slow-roll melee.
WVa: Ohio State – Thanks to the B1G, Ohio State won’t ever be looking ahead to TTUN week. Buckeyes need this victory to keep things rolling.
JC: Ohio State – This will be an ugly game on both sides. Another ugly win for the Buckeyes….
Charles: Ohio State – MSU is banged up and Connor Cook possibly being less than 100% is a big concern for Sparty, OSU pulls this one out at home.
Joe: Ohio State — Connor Cook shoulder issues and a dominant rush defense? BOOM. Buckeyes all day.
Scott: Ohio State
Brandon: Ohio State – I am very worried about the pass protection for J.T. Barrett versus Calhoun and Co. I think that a lot of Zeke and short passes to Michael Thomas will help the offense move the ball. The defense will have to get to Cook early and often and prevent the Spartans from picking on Tyvis Powell deep.
Michael: Ohio State – Buckeyes win a high scoring game
Illinois @ Minnesota
Patrick: Minnesota – MINNESOTA has been so close the past 3 weeks, they get it done for Jerrysota this week.
Mike: Illinois
Ken: Illinois – A healthier Josh Ferguson will make a difference; but Wes Lunt needs to play better.
WVa: Minnesota – New head coach finally wins one
JC: Illinois – I feel an Illini moment here.
Charles: Minnesota – Statistically these teams are virtually equal, I’ll give Minny the edge due to being at home.
Joe: Minnesota — The Gophers contain the run and force Lunt to make throws out of the pocket and rush plays.
Scott: Minnesota
Brandon: Minnesota – The Gophers have been a pain in the neck for teams all year. They should be able to contain the run game just like the Buckeyes did. Doing this severely limits the Illini offense.
Michael: Minnesota – Gophers finally win one
Indiana @ Maryland
Patrick: Indiana – A week after dominating TTUN in the run game, INDIANA will finally get in the B1G win column over the Terps.
Mike: Indiana
Ken: Indiana – Hoosiers are 3-pt dogs. A match-up of weaknesses; Maryland offense vs Indiana defense.
WVa: Indiana – Hoosiers take care of business this week
JC: Indiana – IN is a good team …. I have been saying this all year. Hoosiers big in this one.
Charles: Indiana – How much will the close loss to Michigan effect the Hoosiers mentally? I’m still picking Indiana because of how bad Maryland is.
Joe: Indiana – KEVIN WILSON FACES A DEFENSE THAT HIS MIGHT BE BETTER THAN. GIVE JORDAN HOWARD 160000 CARRIES!
Scott: Indiana
Brandon: Indiana – The Hoosiers, just like the Gophers, have played some very good competition very tough this year. They should be able to roll through Maryland.
Michael: Indiana – Take the over in this game. Even if it’s 100 (Note: O/U is 64)
Michigan @ Penn State
Patrick: Penn State – We’ll call this the “battle of two teams that I’d rather eat white dog poo than root for either one” game. TTUN can’t stop me and Ken running the ball right now and w Barkley running for PENN STATE and Hackenberg possibly playing his final home game, the Nittany Lions get it done. Believe it or not, (BTN did a breakdown of this) if by some strange disaster and there is a 4 way tie in the East between PSU, OSU, TTUN, and Sparty, PSU would be in the B1G title game, so they still have a lot to play for.

Ken: Michigan – Wolverines favored by 4 points, which sounds about right. Since this is the B1G, there will be at least one call that goes against PSU that will enrage PSU Conspiracy Theorists.
WVa: Penn State – TTUN does get caught looking ahead
JC: Penn State – I am happy to say Penn State here. Any other game I would hold my nose if picking PSU. But against TTUN I am always pleased to root for the other team. Last weekend IN took Jimbo & his road-kill act through 2 OT’s. This week he’ll figure it out (so he’ll believe) & Coach Franklin will have a surprise for the false prophet & the heathens called TTUN.
Charles: Penn State – Michigan has been lucky to survive some close calls lately and their defense is suddenly looking very suspect. I think Hackenberg will carve up the Wolverine secondary.
Joe: Penn State — THIS WILL MAKE OR BREAK MY SEASON. Ken, I’m riverboat gamblin’ so I can take you down. (Joe, then should I change your OSU pick to MSU?)

Brandon: Penn State – I really want to go with Michigan on this one BUT I can’t discount the “white out” factor. I think Michigan is the better team but with their defense playing pretty bad and the atmosphere, I have to go with Penn State.
Michael: Penn State – TTUN gets caught looking ahead
Northwestern @ Wisconsin
Patrick: Wisconsin – Both teams have an outside shot at a B1G West division crown, but we know how Fitz does in B1G (see what did there?) games and WISCONSIN has too much firepower for the Cats.
Mike: Wisconsin
Ken: Wisconsin – Wisconsin’s offense and defense are just a little bit better than Northwestern’s.
WVa: Wisconsin – the common denominator here is they both lost to Iowa and are playing for second place. Both have been playing well but my coin flip says Wiscy.
JC: Wisconsin – I’d love to pick the Wildcats …. but then again I could use the point … Badgers here.
Charles: Wisconsin – Badger defense wins this one.
Joe: Wisconsin – I’m taking the home team here, in a game of epic I don’t give a F.
Scott: Northwestern
Brandon: Wisconsin – This will be one of those games that doesn’t receive national attention but it will be a good game. The Badgers are playing good lately and their at home.
Michael: Wisconsin – Take the under. Even if it’s 10 (Note: O/U is 40)
Purdue @ Iowa
Patrick: Iowa – IOWA finally gets a “breather” game and takes care of Purdue easily.
Mike: Iowa
Ken: Iowa – I’m pulling for fellow Muskingum alum Hazell, but I can’t pick his team.
WVa: Iowa – Could this be the second to last game for Darrell Hazell? Let’s hope not, Boilers playing inspired for their coach.
JC: Iowa – Iowa moves closer to locking the West.
Charles: Iowa -This won’t even be close.
Joe: Iowa – Hawkeyes fly together. Boilermakers derail off the train tracks together…
Scott: Iowa
Brandon: Iowa – The Hawkeyes should take this one easily unless they are caught looking forward to their match-up in Lincoln the following Friday night.
Michael: Iowa – Easy win here
