After Week 8, I (73 correct picks) have a narrow lead over Joe (70), with Scott (69), Charles (68) and Patrick (68) close behind. Scott, Mike and Brandon all went 5-fer-5 to lead the pack last week. That was Scott’s second consecutive week of perfection. Very well done, Scott!

All B1G teams are in action this week, some more so than others. We’re down to 4 regular season games before the BTCG. This should be an interesting finish.

Illinois @ Purdue

Patrick: Illinois – The game of the year for I have zero idea who to pick. ILLINOIS lost to Iowa by 9 but were blown out by PSU, and Purdue has been awful…..until last week. The Illini pull off the road upset.

Mike: Purdue

Ken: Purdue – I’ll take Joe’s advice (below) and go with fellow Muskingum alum Hazell. At least for this game. Now, if Purdue can just hang 55 on Illinois…

WVa: Purdue – Boilermakers with a streak? Say it ain’t so . . .

JC: Illinois – Purdue had their moment last week. But Illinois, with their own problems, will pull off a big statement.

Charles: Illinois – Purdue certainly shocked everyone last week but I think that was more a statement about Nebraska than a sign that Purdue has turned things around.

Joe: Illinois – I know Purdue has the hot hand (IS THIS REAL LIFE????) but I’m sticking with the Illini. By they way, I think Ken should have to pick Purdue. Just because. He should have to be forced to take Purdue after every game they win.

Scott: Purdue – Oy. Boiler up again.

Brandon: Illinois – No way Purdue can be good two weeks in a row.

Michael: Purdue – I’m done picking against them

  • A split decision because, because who the hell knows?

Penn State @ Northwestern

Patrick: Penn State – Hackenberg is in a zone and, well, Northwestern doesn’t win in November either, PSU in low scoring affair.

Mike: Northwestern

Ken: Northwestern – Northwestern is favored, at the moment by 2.5, so essentially a dead heat. Two pretty good defenses, but Thorson leads a better balanced offense.

WVa: Northwestern – Mildcats turn their name back to upside right finally

JC: Penn State – I have to go with Penn State here. They appear to be on a roll. N’Western may surprise … sound undecided don’t I? I am! But I will stick with Penn State here.

Charles: Penn State – This is a tough one but I’m going to go with Penn State as I’m not sure if Northwestern has really bounced back from their two losses since beating Nebraska isn’t that tough anymore.

Joe: Penn State – I actually think that Penn State is better than most give them credit for. I like this coaching match up a lot and look forward to the game. I’m going Penn State

Scott: Northwestern – Northwestern is back

Brandon: Northwestern – Tough game to pick, I’ll go with the home team.

Michael: Penn State – Low scoring but I think PSU pulls it out

  • Another split decision; two teams with pretty decent defenses and two contrasting styles at quarterback.

Iowa @ Indiana

Patrick: Iowa – Indiana has tried to trip a few teams this season and will make this closer than it should be but IOWA pulls it out in the end

Mike: Indiana

Ken: Iowa – I think that Iowa’s running game, 2nd to Ohio State in B1G, can keep the ball away from Indiana and just score enough to squeeze out a win.

WVa: Iowa – Hawkeyes move onto 9-0 to keep moving on the collision course with Ohio State.

JC: Iowa – I am still convinced that Indiana is a good team. I also think Iowa has something to say. With that said – I must go with the football tradition and that is Iowa – Final answer.

Charles: Iowa – Indiana is still Indiana.

Joe: Iowa – Kirk Ferentz is the National Coach of the Year Dang Gummit and don’t you forget it!

Scott: Iowa – Iowa rolls

Brandon: Iowa – Indiana has played OSU and MSU tough so not an easy game on the road for Iowa.

Michael: Iowa – Iowa wins a shoot out

  • Hawkeyes are the clear favorite here, because Indiana football…

Rutgers @ Michigan

Patrick: TTUN – There are all kind of issues in the backfield between Isaac and Rudock for TTUN but their backups, backups could be Rutgers, TTUN in a lopsided win.

Mike: TTUN

Ken: Michigan – The offenses of these teams are comparable. Their defenses are not. Fortunately for the Wolverines, they may not have to punt too often.

WVa: TTUN – TTUN makes short work of the Knights

JC: Rutgers – I am in pain here. Obviously TTUN is better and etc., but since I am out of the hunt I feel good with picking an upset. Rutgers wins a close one.

Charles: Michigan – Michigan should have lost last week if not for some awful play calling and Rutgers should have a chance to carve up the Wolverine secondary. However, the Scarlet Knight defense is awful and Michigan is at home.

Joe: TTUN – Jim Harbaugh took plenty of vitamins this week. He’s eating up them steaks people! He’s eating up like Brady Hoke on a cold autumn Tuesday. TTUN is energized by the protein and runs over the Rutgers Scarlet Knights.

Scott: TTUN – If you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything.

Brandon: TTUN – The Big House is the next location for the Kyle Flood farewell tour.

Michael: TTUN – Won’t say anything else

  • We are on the Harbaugh Hackney! Except for JC.

Wisconsin @ Maryland

Patrick: Wisconsin – With Clement back, WISCONSIN should roll the rest of the way out

Mike: Wisconsin

Ken: Wisconsin – See my comments, above, regarding Rutgers-UM.

WVa: Wisconsin – Terps struggling to fit into the B1G

JC: Wisconsin – Maryland? Please! Wisconsin all the way.

Charles: Wisconsin – Wisconsin has quietly gotten back to doing what was expected of them and it will continue against an awful Maryland team.

Joe: Wisconsin – I want to go for the upset here, because Wisconsin is due for a reality check and Ken has a three game lead. I just can’t pull the trigger though.

Scott: Wisconsin – Drinking the Wiscy

Brandon: Wisconsin – Maryland isn’t playing good football right now.

Michael: Wisconsin – Easy win

  • Shouldn’t be too much to this game; Wisconsin isn’t the best, but Maryland.. oh my.

Michigan State @ Nebraska

Patrick: MSU – SPARTY has played to the level of their competition all year but I think this is the first week they blow out a team.

Mike: MSU

Ken: MSU – Husker football is lost in a maize maze right now.

WVa: MSU – Cornhuskers proving that it wasn’t the coach

JC: MSU – I feel bad for the Cornhuskers. But, holding my nose, It’ll be a MSU day.

Charles: MSU – This will not be another close loss for Nebraska in a season full of them, it will be a big loss.

Joe: MSU – Connor Cook will tear Corn Nation into another dimension of sadness on Saturday.

Scott: MSU – A Sparty Party

Brandon: MSU – Connor Cook will torch the Nebraska defense.

Michael: MSU – Nebraska has completely quit and given up

  • A sweep for Michigan State. A combination of MSU playing fairly well and Nebraska, well, not…

Minnesota @ Ohio State

Patrick: Ohio State – Cardale doesn’t have to play this week looking over his shoulder, OHIO STATE makes a statement on a Minny team that will be emotionally beat after their loss last week and the loss of their coach.

Mike: Ohio State

Ken: Ohio State – Cardale returns to the field as a starter. I’m eager to see what has changed in his game since we last saw him. Buckeyes are favored by “3”, and I don’t mean points. That seems a bit high..

WVa: Ohio State -Buckeyes roll despite issues and show why they have the best defense in the country

JC: Ohio State – The emotion in the Buckeyes locker room must be tremendous. MN isn’t so bad, but they simply are not in the same conversation (ref: talent) as the Buckeyes. OSU wins big in a “needed” statement game.

Charles: Ohio State – The Golden Gophers started the season with such promise and then fell flat in Big Ten play. Their defense will give OSU some headaches but the Buckeyes emerge with the win

Joe: Ohio State – It might not be pretty, but a win is a win is a win is a win.

Scott: Ohio State – Seriously?

Brandon: Ohio State – Frigid temps and snow won’t save you this year Mr. Goldy Gopher.

Michael: Ohio State – Even with the J.T. situation, after losing like they did, Minnesota is down now and Ohio State should take care of business

  • Unanimous support for Ohio State, regardless of who quarterbacks them.
