Another week and another start by Cardale Jones left the natives restless and it was clearly his fault the defense let two slip by them late in the game to make it interesting! I jest of course, but you will see by this weeks results that the Buckeyes have several pieces coming together for what should be an ultimate finish to the season. Time will tell. Let’s get going on the offensive side of the ball.

Offensive

tOSU Offensive MVP

COUNTER COUNTER COUNTER COUNTER COUNTER COUNTER COUNTER COUNTER COUNTER COUNTER COUNTER

— The BBC (@The_BBC) November 8, 2015

Joe – Ezekiel Elliott moved the chains for Ohio State and helped them maintain time of possession. Another great performance from #15.

Ken – Ezekiel Elliott. Nothing flashy in his +100 yard performance, but he was the consistency the offense needed.

Patrick – JT Barrett, my God do we need him the next 3 weeks.

Scott – Zeke. Nuff said.

JC – Ezekiel without question. He truly would be my pick for the Heisman – no bias involved either.

Brandon – The 2015 Heisman winner, Zeke. Ho-Hum another 100 yard rushing day, great blocking, and amazing overall skills displayed.

Michael – Zeke Elliot. Another 100 yard rushing game, just keeps pounding the ball

WVa – Ezekiel Elliott surpassed Chris Wells as the fourth all-time leader in rushing yards and will more than likely catch Tim Spencer and Eddie George this season for #2 before he calls it a day.

Save for the one vote for a person who didn’t play in the game, Ezekiel Elliott walks away with it this week!

tOSU O-line MVP

Joe – Taylor Decker — The man that made me scream “Run Counter!” 1000 times on Saturday.

Ken – Decker. He did whiff once, but otherwise did a consistent job of pulling and drive blocking.

Patrick – Pat Elflien, the guy was a pulling beast.

Scott – black and Decker.

JC – Taylor Decker. The big man is solid. I hope he ends up in Cincinnati when he journeys to the NFL

Brandon – Taylor Decker. The man is going to be missed next year

Michael – Decker. Key blocks all night, just a wrecking ball out there.

WVa – He is the Bosa of the offense for sure, Taylor Decker has gradually become one of the better o-lineman to wear the scarlet and gray.

Taylor Decker wins this awards easily

tOSU Offensive Top Play

250 pounds should not be able to stop and go like that #12G

— The BBC (@The_BBC) November 8, 2015

Joe – Ezekiel Elliott’s 15-yard touchdown run at the end of the first half. What a beautiful display of vision, run blocking, and setting up a play throughout a drive.

Ken – Cardale’s 3rd down conversion on a QB draw in the 2nd quarter. OSU scored on that drive to go into half with a 14-0 lead..

Patrick – Cardale’s TD run, sealed the game.

Scott – Cardale jones lumbering for a first down.

JC – Ezekiel’s 15 yard TD run before the half. He looked so smooth. He totally smelled the hole and made the absolute best of it. He is soooooo good!

Brandon – Jones 44 yard pass in 2nd quarter to set up first TD. This is the type of play we were all expecting to see by Cardale.

Michael – Jones 3rd and 18 scramble in the 2nd qtr. Without that play Ohio St goes into the half only up 7-0 on a pick six. offense needed a spark

WVa – Cardale’s below average trot to the end-zone to seal the deal. I was surprised by his comment about himself. He just wins!

Cardale Jones has the nod from all of us

tOSU Offensive Unsung

Joe – Cardale Jones made the plays to keep the game out of reach on Saturday. He won’t get any credit for it either throughout the upcoming week.

Ken – Jalin Marshall, Michael Thomas and Curtis Samuel sealing the edge on Zeke’s TD run. It was a thing of beauty.

Patrick – the offense was so bad all the way around, no one.

Scott – Cardale Jones. Not sure why just feel like he wasn’t getting enough love.

JC – Jalin Marshall. His numbers and toughness is even keel with anyone else’s. Jalin is a needed part of the Offensive plan…I am so happy they keep this wonderful talent involved.

Brandon – Jalin Marshall. His punt returns are always a game of Russian roulette but the man consistently gets around 15 yards a pop. Same went for this game.

Michael – Curtis Samuel Not a lot of stats, but has done a lot of the little things. changed to more of a slot WR and had a great block on Elliott’s TD run at the end of the 2nd qtr.

WVa – I think Cardale Jones is unsung and definitely under appreciated right now. He has taken a great deal of criticism for his play and fans have made it clear they want JT Barrett at QB. We all need to remember where that team would have been last season without him and be quiet about him.

Cardale and Jalin share this one

Defensive

tOSU Defensive MVP

I had no idea the Vonn Bell Academy has Missile launching courses

— The BBC (@The_BBC) November 8, 2015

Joe – Tyquan Lewis set the tone and shut down any hope of the Gophers establishing any type of run game. Something that has been missing from Ohio State’s edge rushers.

Ken – Vonn Bell. I agree with Michael’s comment, below.

Patrick – Vonn Bell, go ahead and pencil him as an All American.

Scott – Vonn Bell

JC – Vonn Bell. I absolutely enjoy watching his gvame.

Brandon – Tyquan Lewis. He continues to get better and better while teams are still forced to focus most of their attention on Bosa.

Michael – Vonn Bell. Had the pick 6 and played great all night. Great tackles in open field. solid game

WVa – Vonn Bell is a play-maker and I for one would like to see him on the offensive side of the ball, riches or not. He can flat-out do it all.

Vonn Bell is the man

tOSU D-line MVP

The lining up of tyquan lewis up front and switching him to zone coverage confused the hell out of leidner.

— The BBC (@The_BBC) November 8, 2015

Joe – Like I said below, Tyquan Lewis set the tone for the rush defense with seven tackles and key plays on third down throughout the night.

Ken – Adolphus Washington; his play stabilized the defense front and shut down Gophers’ running game.

Patrick – Joey Bosa, was disruptive the entire evening.

Scott – Bosa.

JC – Adolphus Washington. Normally I would have said Bosa …. Bosa is consistent (great) This game Adolphus though played solidly and deserves the recognition.

Brandon – Lewis. Defensive player of the game can get D-Line MVP.

Michael – Washington. Played a good solid game. Was good against the run.

WVa – Tyquan Lewis because he will share the play of the game with Vonn Bell for me

A-Dol-Ph-Us is making it difficult for teams to just game plan Bosa

tOSU Defensive Top Play

Joe – I had no Idea that Vonn Bell Academy had passed Zone 6 certification.

Ken – Vonn Bell’s pick-6

Patrick – Vonn Bell’s pick 6

Scott – Pick six

JC – Vonn Bell’s pick 6 …. what else could have topped it?

Brandon – VBA taking one to the house.

Michael – Bell’s pick six. No question here. Great play

WVa – Tyquan’s hit and then Pick six by Bell all on one play, hard to throw the ball if you can’t see.

Vonn Bell’s pick six was a thing of beauty

tOSU Defensive Unsung

Joe – Joshua Perry had such an impact that receivers were dropping passes with him in zone coverage five yards away. A great game from one of Ohio State’s true leaders.

Ken – Josh Perry; he just seemed to be in the right place @ right time vs Minny

Patrick – Raekwon McMillian, the guy is this close to being pencilled in as an All American.

Scott – Eli Apple.

JC – Raekwon McMillan. He are witnessing the making of greatness.

Brandon – Josh Perry. I’ve been critical of him at times this year but he consistently put himself in the right position to stop Minny from making plays.

Michael – Raekwon McMillan. Turning into a very good MLB.

WVa – Eli Apple has been doing his job, week ion and week out and get’s little mention here about it.

Raekwon McMillan takes control

Odds and Ends

tOSU Special Teams MVP

Marshall Law.

— The BBC (@The_BBC) November 8, 2015

Joe – Jalin Marshall proved that there is a return game at Ohio State this year.

Ken – Jalin Marshall. Man, is he ever electric with the ball!

Patrick – Jalin Maeshall

Scott – Marshall Marshall Marshall

JC – Jalin Marshall. The guy gets better each week.

Brandon – Jalin Marshall. I talked about his punt return ability earlier.

Michael – Johnston. Solid, pinned Minnesota deep several times.

WVa – Jalin Marshall is one of the best in college football right now

Jalin Marshall can do it all

tOSU Needs Improvement

The sad thing? That wildcat play is there if the snap is on target.

— Chuck Strawn (@ccstra54) November 8, 2015

Joe – The answer Michael to your statement, which is written as a question, is four games.

Ken – The concept of Braxton as a Wildcat QB. Forget it, it hasn’t worked, it never will.

Patrick – wait for it………Dontre Wilson

Scott – starting the game in slow motion.

JC – I agree with Ken … drop the Braxton wildcat idea. Use him maybe on end arounds or even pitch outs… but drop the wildcat idea. I also agree with Scott. They are starting way too slow and often against lesser teams.

Brandon – Sleepwalking through the first quarter. It is has become brutal to watch them in the first quarter.

Michael – Fast starts. How many games now has Ohio State ended the 1st qtr with 0 points.

WVa – Amazes me at how much a difference a year makes. The lack of any offensive production to start the game is mesmerizing!

Sounds like starting slow is a touchy subject

Minnesota MVP

Joe – Scott and Michael, did you find some gun powder and wanted to shoot the cannon one last time? Is your cannon misfiring? K.J. Maye was everything for Minnesota on Saturday. His 10 receptions gave the Gophers the ability to move the chains at times. His big plays kept it a close ballgame late.

Patrick – KJ Maye

Scott – Maye was a pain in my Buckeye.

JC – Maye was Minnesota’s weapon on Saturday. I do believe that Leidner would shine more if he had better protection too. He is a solid and effective passer. Thank goodness though the protection didn’t improve this past weekend.

Brandon – I’ll go away from the herd and pick Mitch Leidner. If you throw for 281 yards against the Buckeye secondary with the D-Line breathing down your neck, I’ll throw you a MVP honor.

Michael – Maye was all over the place. He’s going to play on Sundays one day

WVa – Maye was incredible, and after I watched highlights, I concur with Michael.

Maye is the clear winner here although Leidner got some love too

B1G Coach MVP

Joe – Kirk Ferentz is a legend’s legend. The truth is, Cats wouldn’t meow in Iowa City if it wasn’t for the old ball coach. There would be way too much spilled milk. This is the year for Iowa. THIS is the season when punting transcends the game of football itself.

Ken – Probably Urban,

Patrick – Pat Fitzgerald for finally winning in November

Scott – urban.

JC – Urban. He is absolutely in his own league.

Brandon – Anyone but Urban, Buckeye coaches don’t receive honors just championships.

Michael – Urban Meyer. just the man.

WVa – There is nobody in the conference or the nation that can coach as good as Urban Meyer

Urban Meyer runs away with it here and that’s good because he won’t win the awards while at Ohio State
