While Ohio State is in Tate Martell's top seven, the Buckeyes are still looking at other options for the QB of the future.

With summer right around the corner, recruiting will pick back up in a big way with the camp circuit starting up. Ohio State will host a slew of camps and the coaching staff will also take part in satellite camps to evaluate new talent. The Buckeyes have a limited number of spots for 2017 and will be looking to add to an already elite class.

Long-time Ohio State quarterback target Tate Martell (Las Vegas, Nev. / Bishop Gorman) is further advancing his recruitment as the five-star narrowed his list to a top seven on Tuesday afternoon. The list obviously included the Buckeyes.

Quarterback recruiting is definitely taking shape for the 2017 class. Danny Clark (Massillon, Ohio / Archbishop Hoban) is already in the fold and expected to be part of the class, but Ohio State is also chasing Martell as well as Kellen Mond (Bradenton, Fla. / IMG Academy). The Buckeyes are in good position with both prospects at this point, though Auburn has recently made a push with Mond. Ohio State will continue to chase both prospects until if/when they land one.

The biggest thing is getting either one back on campus sometime this summer. As for Martell, Cal and UCLA are thought to be the stiffest competition for the Buckeyes. Again, until one of them commits to the scarlet and gray. Ohio State will continue its pursuit to land a second QB for the class of 2017. If the situation happens where they strike out on both, there's a chance you see Ohio State pocket the scholarship and save a spot for 2018.

The Golden State with the Golden (RB) Answer

It was reported that 2018 running back TJ Pledger (West Hills, Calif. / Chaminade) will be making a visit to Ohio State in the future. Pledger holds 13 total offers from some of the top programs in the country. At 5 feet 9 inches, Pledger has blazing speed, and has time to grow being only a sophomore.

USC is thought to be the top competition as it stands right now, but it's still extremely early in the process. 247Sports has Pledger as a four-star prospect, but he hasn't yet been evaluated by other sites. The fact that Pledger has legitimate interest in Ohio State and wants to visit puts the Buckeyes in the game. If Ohio State is able to get him on campus this summer, it will be game on.
