with Tommy Brown
Akron Firestone OL/DL Tommy Brown never hid the fact that he wanted an offer from Ohio State. Sure he already had offers from West Virginia, Duke, Michigan State and several MAC schools...but the OSU offer was the one he coveted. During a visit to OSU this past weekend, Tommy was sitting in the lounge outside the football offices when he was invited in to Coach Tressel's office and heard the news he had been hoping for...that OSU was extending that very offer. And being with his parents on the visit to OSU, Tommy wasted no time informing the staff that he was ready to accept. A two-way standout for Firestone, Tommy will be bringing athleticism and a nasty streak to whichever side of the ball he ends up on. At 6-foot-5 300 lbs he has the frame and the versatillity to play any number of positions...from defensive tackle to offensive tackle to guard. Thanks to Smith at ThaRinger.com, the BPRT was able to catch up with the Buckeyes newest verbal for another installment of Straight Six.
BPRT: When you think of Ohio State football, what comes to mind?
TB: Coach Tressel, love and respect.
BPRT: What college coaches and players keep your attention and why?
TB: Coach Bollman has always kept my attention because he loves me not only as a player but as a gentleman as well. Lawrence Wilson just keeps me hyped about Ohio State.
BPRT: You have one more year in your high school career...what goals have you set personally for this upcoming season?
TB: My teammates and I are going to go hard every down and take each game one at a time.
BPRT: When your career is over, how would you like people to remember Tommy Brown?
TB: I want people to remember me as a great man and a great athlete.
BPRT: Can you describe the feeling you had when you received the Ohio State offer? Who was there and what were some of the reactions?
TB: My parents and I were just overwhelmed! My mom was in tears and I was about to scream excitement.
BPRT: What are some of your favorite things to do away from football?
TB: I like to spend time with my family and thank God for everything He has done for me.
