with Quincy Bagsby

Quincy Bagsby is a name that is starting to circulate around the nation. As the 2009 Nevada athlete tours the country to attend various camps, his name has grown from a whisper to a definite voice in the recruiting world as he racks up more and more solid in-person evaluations including being named Outstanding Senior Running Back while camping at The Ohio State University. Quincy does not yet hold a Division-1 offer, but that is understandable as he barely has any junior film to share with schools. After recovering from a preseason sprained ankle, Quincy was one day away from his first game when a car stopped as he was walking to the locker room after practice. An unknown assailant fired a BB gun and hit Quincy in the eye. The attack caused a permanent tear in his retina, but no vision problems. After wearing a patch for three weeks and missing five weeks of practices and games while on a strict no-contact restriction, Quincy watched most of his Junior season waste away. With no film to share but a Division-1 dream to attain, the young man knew that he must prove what he can do in live competition. No mistakes...one shot. The buzz has grown as Oregon, Northwestern, UNLV, Nevada, Florida State, Alabama, Boston College, Central Florida, Ohio State, UConn, Virginia, and Nebraska have all made contact for film and/or camp appearances. With a 19 on the ACT and a 2.9 core GPA, Quincy is set to graduate in December. As he continues his whirlwind tour around the nation, the BPRT slowed him down for a minute to take part in the latest round of The Straight Six.

BPRT: When you think of Ohio State football, what comes to mind?

QB: I think about greatness, winning, team effort, and me being a part of that.

BPRT: What position would you prefer to play in college and why?

QB: Runningback. I would rather score the ball than defend against it. Running the ball is where my talent comes into play.

BPRT: When your career is over, how would you like people to remember Quincy Bagsby?

QB: As a homerun hitter...Someone who came and got the job done.

BPRT: If you were analyzing yourself on film, what would you list as your strengths and what needs some work?

QB: My weakness is my pad lean. I excel in power, speed, vision, toughness, and agility.

BPRT: What are some of your favorite things to do away from football?

QB: I play basketball or stay at home with my family.

BPRT: Its Signing Day...who do you need to thank for your success and future on the college level?

QB: First, I would thank my parents for all they have done for me. Also, I would thank my auntie and uncle for helping pay for plane flights so all the coaches could see me. Finally, I would say thank you to my coaches at Green Valley and everyone who has cheered for me to help me get to where I am.

The BPRT would like to thank Quincy Bagsby for taking time to complete this interview. We look forward to seeing great things from him over the next few years.
