LOUD NOISES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!nikonosis;908945; said:WRONG!
Comcast internet is $44.95 right now and is $54.95 if you don't have television service to go alone with it!
Receive first 6 months of Comcast High-Speed Internet for $19.99 per month after service activation. After promotional period, regular monthly service charge of $42.95 and equipment charges (if applicable) will apply.
That sucks. I've got cox internet ( in OKC) the price for the Internet package didn't change when I cut off the cable TV $43/mo. I use Vonage, $30/mo for unlimited calling (long distance included), caller ID, voice mail, call waiting. They even email .wav files of my voice mails. I definately recommend vonage for phone regardless of Television provider as long as you have cable internet.WRONG!

so over the course of that first year, you avg about 35 a month. Threaten to cancel your service if the 42/55 is too high, which will often result in savings. Also, is comcast internet the only option?nikonosis;908994; said:and equipment charges. They charge you another $15 if you don't have televsion service with it.
suza271;908927; said:Here's a breakdown of several options for cable vs. Directv. Depending on what you want/need, it's really not that more expensive.
Television Options
...
Directv-- $55.96 (I have 3 TVs, Showtime, no HD)
Comcast Internet-- $42.99
Verizon basic phone-- $20.00
Evan;909023; said:Please note that is without HD. If you have been enjoying one of those "free" (monthly charge) HD-DVR's from your local cable provider, it will cost you $199 upfront after a $100 instant rebate for a direcTV HD-DVR. And that is to lease it, you still don't own it, and still pay a monthly fee for it.

Do you work for a cable company or somthing evan?
Evan;909051; said:That is absolutely not true (on both accounts). I just signed up for DirecTV on Sunday and I researched everything about it prior to doing so. DirecTV will give you a free HD RECEIVER OR a HD-DVR for $199 (normally $299). You can't combine the offers either. I know because I needed both and had to take the $100 off HD-DVR and pay $99 for the HD Receiver for a total over $300 (tax).
It's possible you confused this with Dish Network who is offering free HD-DVR's, but no BTN, so deal breaker for me.
Do what others have done, call D*, when the computer ask what you want say cancel service, which gets you to the customer retention department. If you're looking for a free or greatly reduced price for new hardware, like the HR20 just say you're wanting to get a new HD DVR, which your local cable company doesn't chagre $299 for and can they make you a deal. Most folks get something from $199 down to $19.95 or free, a lot depends on the rep you get, your account status, and it you're nice on the phone.
