Snowboarding at Taos Ski Valley

Taosman

Your Cousin In New Mexxico
Taos Ski Valley will open for snowboarding starting March 19.
Taos has steadfastly refused snowboarding since it's inception and this is huge for those who snowboard(I don't). Conditions are ....superb! We currently have a 109in base.

The new pup currently has the "guest" bedroom. If your want to share space with an 11 week old puppy that cries a lot at night...................:tongue2:

As for the green chili cheeseburgers, Wendy's and McDonalds as well as every food place in town can fix you up.

Also, there's Bobcat Bite in Santa Fe for one of the best greenchili cheeseburgers on earth! :chompy:

"Served in a green plastic basket with a handful of potato chips, Bobcat Bite?s green chile cheeseburger is different from most. For one thing, it is a big, succulent, hand-formed patty of good ground chuck. The configuration is different, too: the chile is put directly on the hamburger, then covered with cheese."

It's light weight pow!
Stuff like you can't imagine till you've been out west.
Eastern and Ohio snow is wet and heavy stuff. Western snow is much lighter. Has more air in it. A lot easier to shovel, also!

This blizzard shit sans mountains remotely nearby has got to be my personal hell. Thanks, Taos. You reminded me of the two weeks of heaven I get to spend out west every year, and how far, far away from it I am now.

My skis shall remain wanting...

DAMNIT, OHIO!!!!

But on another note, resorts that have recently allowed snowboarders still might not be very snowboard friendly (at least for novice/intermediate snowboarders). In December we went to Aspen, and Highlands just recently allowed snowboarders and our friends had a tough time on some of the runs because they were very narrow - great for skis but not good for boarders who I guess need wide lanes to carve up and manage their speed.
