Before Malaki Branham got to Ohio State, he had to ask permission, which was granted, to wear No. 22, the number he wore in high school for St. Vincent-St. Mary. The Buckeyes retired No. 22 in 2001 after the career of former Scarlet and Gray star, and two-time consensus first-team All-American, Jim Jackson. It will not be as difficult for Branham to get that number in the NBA.

On Thursday night, Branham was selected No. 20 overall in the 2022 NBA Draft by the San Antonio Spurs. After arriving in San Antonio, Branham was introduced alongside the Spurs' other first-round picks. The jersey the guard held up was the No. 22.
