KEITA BATES-DIOP, DENVER NUGGETS
Traded to the Nuggets in the same February deal that sent Turner to the Timberwolves, Bates-Diop played in only two games for Denver before the season was paused. He isn’t likely to play a big role in the season restart, either, but he is inside the bubble with the Nuggets, who have also clinched a berth in the playoffs, in which they are currently in line to be the No. 3 seed in the Western Conference.

Bates-Diop, meanwhile, has reportedly agreed to a two-way contract with the San Antonio Spurs, which means he can spend up to 45 days on the Spurs' regular-season roster but will otherwise play for the Spurs' G League affiliate (Austin Spurs) unless he is signed to a guaranteed deal.

While just looking at the NBA scores from last night, I noticed Keita Bates-Diop had a "career night" for the Spurs, They beat he Lakers 138-110.

He played 27 minutes, shot 11-11 from the field, including 3-3 from beyond the arc, and 5-7 from the line, for total of 30 points, he also had 7 rebounds.

The final night under the old name improbably belonged to Bates-Diop, the fourth-year NBA journeyman averaging 3.8 points per game this season with a previous season-high of 10. He scored 20 points in the second half and hit five 3-pointers during his perfect game from the field while frequently guarding LeBron James on the other end.

"I was playing the game, reading the defense, moving around," Bates-Diop said. "I don't think I dribbled that much. My teammates just found me. ... (James) is a great player, but you've got to guard him and just not get star-struck by him."

"Keita was ridiculous," Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said. "Did a fine job at both ends of the court. We could hardly guard LeBron, but he did his best. Really was a team effort, because I thought some of the (bench) guys outplayed the starters."

Dissecting the Spurs' 17-man opening-day roster
In addition to Romeo Langford, a couple of others that may have been on the cusp of being in that roster cut conversation, Keita Bates-Diop and Zach Collins, both survived the cut and will return for their second and third seasons with the team, respectively.

The Spurs will likely be searching the market for suitors for Bates-Diop and Collins, along with the team's veteran core of Jakob Poeltl, Josh Richardson, and Doug McDermott. That being said, do not expect the Spurs to accept a trade offer for the sake of making a trade, particularly in Poeltl's case. The team's goal will be to get the most value out of those players as possible, and if it means setting a high price point and waiting until the final hours before the trade deadline, they'll do it. That strategy could even extend to Tre Jones, Isaiah Roby, and Gorgui Dieng for the right price.
