Second RB in this class?

Does not seem to be a big priority for the staff this year, and it will be hard to bring in another RB this year to sit behind Pittman, Haw, CWells... plus we'd probably choose a speed back to complement Chris, so he'd likely be sitting behind Maurice as well.

Spiller is the only option I'd go after, assuming Asher Allen is not a legit possibility.

RB also looks particularly strong next year, with Herron, Torrence, Mabin, Eugene Clifford, Hosea Simpson, and Stephens from Texas. Plus J'Keem Waters at FB. Now, these guys aren't OSU locks or locks to stay on offense, but there is enough depth in the Class of 2007 to pass on another this year, in my opinion.

Assuming none of the walk-on FBs (Franzinger, Fender, Daniels) step it up, we'll be down to one FB (Johnson) when Schnittker graduates. FB is not only an "option" for this year, but nearly a "must-get". At RB, we have Pittman and Haw for at least two more years (three, if neither lights it up so well that they leave early for the NFL), along with Maurice Wells for at least three, to go along with the incoming Chris Wells. I see no need at all this year to take a second RB, unless LeSean McCoy decides to come a-knockin'.

So far, according to our database, we have five FBs (where FB is their primary position) on our radar:

Jimmie Bowersock (OH)
Anthony Davis (MD)
Chane Moline (CA)
Aram Olson (SC)
Scott Weber (OH)

We've yet to offer any FB this class. Moline, one of the top FBs in the country, had us on his early list but we've since dropped off due to lack of an offer...if we were to offer, I think we'd be back in the hunt for him. However, the 2005 season has yet to start, so we have no idea who could emerge as a FB worthy of an offer.

Apparently there are some RB offers on the table. High profile guys, like McCoy. This tells me the coaches would take another RB if he's the "right" one. FB, from what I'm reading now, doesn't seem to be in the works with no offer to the likes of Moline! And, there's still Lenix coming in! Though Lenix probably projects as a LB or Safety.

There's a whole season of high school football to be played before the February NLOI day. A lot can happen to inform JT and staff about which RB, if any, to go after to compliment Beanie Wells.

If a speed-back emerges who has a break-out senior year, likes tOSU and is academically eligible, I think JT would take a second RB. With early departures and injuries, I think bringing in two this year wouldn't be extravagant at all.

I think a FB is an absolute must and will definitely happen -- regardless of whether JT finds another pure RB -- probably after the H.S. season.

What do you think about Terrence Scherer of Colerain? Any chance Tressel offers him if he has a good senior season? He's pretty damn fast and, in my opinion, was better than Mister Simpson last year. I think he'd be a nice complement to Wells.

Doesn't seem like a whole lot of folks outside of SW Ohio have even heard of this kid yet. He's not listed in Rivals' or Scout's databases.
