Saints' Colston has thumb surgery, out 4-to-6 weeks
New Orleans Saints receiver
Marques Colston will miss four to six weeks recovering from surgery to repair a torn ligament in his left thumb.
The injury, first reported by Fox Sports on its Web site, looms as a big loss for the Saints, as it costs the team a receiver who has gained more than 1,000 yards in each of his two NFL seasons. Colston had 98 catches for 1,202 yards last season.
A person with direct knowledge of the injury told The Associated Press on Wednesday morning that Colston was injured from a play on Sunday in which the receiver reached forward in an attempt to make a catch while taking a helmet-first hit to his hands.
