There comes a time in a man’s . . , yadda, yadda, yadda!! Once J.T. took the field in Saturday night’s game there was a brief hush that came over the field and mainly because Rutgers fans had been hoping Urban Meyer was joking about J.T. starting. Once, they realized it wasn’t a joke and caught their breath, it was already 14 to 0! This was a fun one to write so let’s get rolling with the very, very, very good.

Rumblin’

That's. Nuts. Concentration. @BraxtonMiller5

— Chris Hunt (@wvabuckeye) October 25, 2015

If Gus Johnson was doing the game it would have echoed throughout the stadium, J.T. Barrett, J.T. Barrett, the whole state of jersey is ready for J.T. Barrett! I have to be honest and say that I am pleasantly surprised it went as well as it did in his first start since TTUN last season. He played with a sense of urgency and was under complete control in Piscataway, NJ on Saturday night.

It was like he wanted to make up for lost time and did so in typical “distributor” fashion with the help from some nive plays made by the receiving corps who all of a sudden seem to have new life. There was an awful lot of positivity coming from players on the team explaining the difference in the chemistry between JT and the other eleven on the field.

Several of them were quoted as saying such and more to the point that this is his team. Like the rest of the world needed to hear it. It’s not as much of a shot at Cardale as you would think. It’s more like a declaration. One that’s sending the message that this team wants to win it all with him at the helm. He missed out on finishing what he started last year and those guys obviously felt he was responsible for the success by the unanimous vote to be a captain. He didn’t play his best game but who cares? He has several more(seven we hope) to play to make the statement that could have been made last year if not for the injury.

The other tell-tale sign of how much of a difference he makes in this offense to the rest of the B1G? Most if not all of them agree, they are almost impossible to prepare for with him at QB. I believe that players have a different mind-set about having to defend him as well. Time will tell if he truly is the man for this offense, but I would say he has started off on the right foot!

Let’s see what the staff has to say about the Rumblin’

Scott – Ohio state offense with J.T. in charge.

Ken – I agree with Scott; Ohio state offense with J.T. in charge.

Michael – Ohio State offense. Best game they played so far. J.T. looked great. That’s how we were suppose to look all year

Joe – Ohio State fans and media have had no issues ripping Ohio State receivers this season for not being able to make the big play. Braxton Miller, Curtis Samuel, Jalin Marshall, and Mike Thomas all made big plays throughout the game.

The first team receiving corps only had two drops on the day and they both came before halftime. That’s big play receiving if you ask me. Putting the exclamation on the big play was the timely blocking from this unit as well.
Leading the way is Michael Thomas, who continues to prove that he is the most consistent receiver in the country. There is a reason that scouts are drooling over him at the next level. He has hands that are as good as Golden Tate’s and he is proving to be dangerous if given any lane.
Not only is he quick, runs great routes, and makes all the catches directed at him. He has the strength of a mule.

JC – J.T. absolutely all the way. His presence & coolness simply set an entirely different tone. I must add the greatness of Mike Thomas as well. I am a fan.

Brandon – The Ohio State offense. As this offense continues to grow, Barrett, Miller, Zeke, and Thomas are going to be unstoppable.

MDotySr – J.T. Barrett and the read option.

I've never understood the mentality behind fans thinking a college football team needs to care how demoralizing it is to get whupped

— Chris Hunt (@wvabuckeye) October 25, 2015

One of my least favorite things about college football is some of the fans mentality around how a team that’s winning big should treat the team that they are beating into submission.

First and foremost it is a sport. There are no awards for second place or even a participation ribbon for players in college football. We heard the same grief during the B1G championship game. I am sorry if the Buckeyes hurt your feelings on Saturday night when Ezekiel Elliott ran for 55 yards and a score.

Actually, I am not sorry.

It is a college sport and the coaches that are guiding these young men teach them respect and those types of things that are important. Being a man also means having some responsibilities that leasd success for your fellow teammates and the program.

That is what Coach Meyer gets paid for and he will continue to coach them to play hard until the end.

He will take the foot off of the gas when he feels his team has met all of the game goals. I am sure that 49 points was one of the goals set — to exorcise some other demons from early in the season!

Let’s see what the staff has to say about the Stumblin’

Scott – Defense in the final minute.

Ken – Not much. I’d have preferred the shut-out, but I’ll take 2nd teamers get game reps. We may need them playing with confidence over the next couple of months.

Michael – Urban Meyer for not starting Barrett earlier. We got to be honest. It was clear to everyone JT should’ve been the starter from day 1

Joe – Bruce Feldman, you’re stumblin’ brother. You’re stumblin’ down the ladder of respect for putting Iowa number four in your top 10 rankings over number five Ohio State? Bruce, I used to enjoy the work that you did on the various media outlets that you have been a part of over the years.

Bruce, did you let Clay Travis hack your account on the Fox Sports website?
Do you really think that Iowa is better than Michigan State and Ohio State? Do you owe somebody money in Des Moines?
Or are you just continuing the Ohio State bias brand, because you’re so deep in at this point, the only choice you have is to drown?

JC – I don’t know if there was any real stumblin’ other than the initial Rutgers drive. It masqueraded as what we’ve become accustomed to in these games so far. They eventually gathered together & did exceptional. So my stumblin’ entry is the Rutgers opening drive & how the Buckeyes nearly showed us….what am I saying? They stopped them! So maybe the Stumblin’ is the fan-base and their lack of trust – ME included.

Brandon – Tyvis Powell. It just looks like he is consistently taking the wrong route to the ball carrier or wide receiver. He just seems off.

MDotySr – Defensive Line gap control still needs to improve.

Bumblin’

I am going to be short and sweet this week for the ugly. I am in total agreement with Joe in his take on Kyle Flood but am going to take it one step further. You have to admire the student sections (No signs allowed in Ohio Stadium BTW) for their efforts in being unique for the atmosphere. They could not even compete with the Buckeye contingent that showed up.

Anymore, games on the road have become a joke to the team hosting because people just cannot say no to someone offering them high dollar for their tickets. It was crazy to hear that the O-H-I-O chant was going on and even in reference to the above Stumblin’, I am not sure if it was the Buckeye’s fans yelling Zeeeeeeeke, or the Rutgers fans booing on his last score.

If you asked the cannon crew before the game whether they would be busy, I am sure that the looks on their faces was enough to tell you that answer.

Let’s see what the staff has to say about the Bumblin’

Scott – Hate to do this but … Urban Meyer for not making the QB switch sooner.

Ken – Cam Johnston’s 29 yard punt.It really didn’t mean anything in the game, but what a clunker, Obviously, not too much to complain about this week

Michael – Rutgers throwing deep and taking timeouts down 49-0 with seconds left in the game. I realize backups want to play too and no one wants shut out but taking a time out down 49-0 with 18 seconds left just to score is classless in my opinion.

Joe – Rutgers Head Coach Kyle Flood said that High Point Solutions Stadium is the best college football atmosphere last week.

Excuse me?
The best gameday experience in college football doesn’t include fans leaving in droves in the third quarter. It also has a marching band experience to remember and not a ragtag group of wannabes that have formed a group smaller than the Perry Middle School Band.
Most importantly, the best gameday experiences in college football would never allow their student section to flock from the stadium faster than their pregame beer left it’s bottle.
The Rutgers experience was an absolute joke when given the national spotlight. I can’t imagine what it feels like when teams like Northwestern and Illinois make their way to play there.
Maybe Flood meant that it’s the best gameday experience in college football for opposing fan bases.
Without a doubt, Buckeye Nation had rule of the roost on Saturday.

JC – Joe’s right. The whole Rutgers experience took a huge hit … wonder how Coach Flood will recover when it comes time to hit the road on recruiting?

Brandon – Me during the bye week, I have no idea what to do with my hands

MDotySr – Anyone not believing in Coach Meyer to make the right decision for the Buckeye Football team!
