It amazes me how motivating a loss can be and at the same time maybe Urban Meyer is just better at motivating players when they’re the underdogs. Let’s face it, the Buckeyes have won a lot of games in both respects and all it does is cement his legend when it comes to coaching in the college football ranks. The Buckeyes are the dangerous team that everyone feared would rear it’s head all season. Please don’t worry about how TTUN rebounds from a devastating loss at the hands of their arch rival, nobody truly cares if they ever do. Let’s get rolling with the very, very, very good.
Rumblin’
I want to see Ezekiel Elliott come back for his senior season only to show the world that he is the best running back to ever play at Ohio State.
That in itself is a pretty bold statement when you consider the best is Archie Griffin. I don’t have to tell everybody what he did while in the scarlet and gray, nor do I need to tell you his statistics. Even if Ezekiel comes back, he can only break Archies yardage record unless he miraculously wins the Heisman.
What makes Ezekiel Elliott the best running back and maybe the best player to ever play in Columbus has nothing to do with what he does when he has the football. It’s because of what he means to the other plays when he is blocking. I would have to go watch film from the 70’s but my hunch would be that Archie never had to block in Woody’s offense, plus he had a great fullback that played along side with him that was vicious himself in Pete Johnson.
There were two plays in Saturdays game where Ezekiel sent the defender flying like a windmill. In both cases, I guarantee you those defenders made sure they knew where Ezekiel was even when he didn’t get the football. The other reason I would love to see him come back is yet another season with J.T. Barrett read fakes and what kind of yardage that would produce!
Let’s see what the staff has to say about the Rumblin’
Scott – Zeke. Feed the beast.
Ken – Stanford’s Conrad Ukropina‘s 45 yard game-winning kick as time expired. Clutch. And it knocked ND out of playoff picture.
Michael – Elliott. He’s still running
Joe – Urban Meyer say that he made a mistake by not taking over offensive play-calling earlier in the year and rectified it in the best way possible. Not only did his team defeat Michigan on Saturday, but they found a way to pull together after all of the darkness that was hanging over their head heading into the game. Yes, winning heals a lot of wounds.
Somebody had to be the band-aid though, and it was Meyer, who fell on the sword and swallowed his pride to get this team to the level they belong.
JC – Zeke. The kid put his abilities where his mouth was.
Brandon – Zeke. The man said sorry in one of the best ways possible.
MDotySr – Zeke, Zeke, Zeke
Stumblin’
I honestly bought into some of the Jim Harbaugh hype myself. I remember when he played there and the way he played. He was the type of player that made sure teams knew they had to prepare for him even though they had a pretty good running back in Jamie Morris.
Harbaugh’s history as a coach should not have led anyone to believe the Wolverine’s would be back this quickly. In every head coaching job he has had, it has taken him some time to get things moving. He has stumbled because he ran into a buzz saw called the Ohio State Buckeyes and maybe realizes there’s some more work to be done.
One thing is for sure, Hoke could recruit and what little bit of talent that was left around led them to a pretty respectable season for TTUN. The harsh reality that he is faced with is that the University and the fans will want him to turn around their fortunes against their rival. Only time will tell if he is capable of doing it or if he is simply biding his time until the next NFL dream job comes open.
Let’s see what the staff has to say about the Stumblin’
Scott – Michigan defense. OSU scored 42 points three years in a row.
Ken – UM fans than bolted midway through the 4th quarter. I guess there was no need to stick around to send off your Seniors, eh?
Michael – Harbaugh. Ha ha
Joe – Jake Rudock is still quite literally stumblin’ Oh Wait, you’re right. He isn’t even walking. Joey Bosa planted Rudock into the Michigan Stadium grass like he was Hans Solo and Bosa was frozen carbonite.
JC – Jimbo. And all that heathenism up North.
Brandon – I’m going non-buckeye here and saying Georgia. Not sure why they fired Richt but he has been on the hot seat for about 6 years.
MDotySr – TTUN hype for sure! To quote Eminem, “back to reality”!!
Bumblin’
In a week where the Buckeyes dispatched the Wolverines fairly easily behind the running of Ezekiel Elliott, I really struggled to find something that was ugly but reading my comrades comments below gave me something to gnaw on.
The whole idea behind being a fan of a sports team is to support said team through thick and thin regardless of success or failure. The Wolverine fans are finally seeing what it truly felt like through the Cooper years. The big difference here is the Buckeyes beat them badly with their savior in charge.
The majority of the fans I follow on social media have good heads on their shoulders and complimented the Buckeyes on a good game and realize that it’s time to get to work for the future. The other fans that they were re-tweeting did not have the same mindset.
A lot of those fans were giving up already and saying nothing will change even with Harbaugh and their biggest fear is the Buckeyes win another national title. Really? You may have seen him as the savior to the program and expected it to be in an instant when the truth is that he is a methodical man. He will take his time and get things right and truly compete for a title in the near future. TTUN fans need to get a clue.
Let’s see what the staff has to say about the Bumblin’
Scott – Whomever runs the Michigan golf course. Walked across it from the car to the stadium. No reason cars couldn’t come there like every other week. It wasn’t that wet.
Ken – LSU Administration. This whole cluster-f’ck of an institution bowing to boosters ($$donors) with their midweek pronouncements is an embarrassment to everyone. Except the LSU Administration.
Michael – TTUN fans who bragged all year how Harbaugh alone would conquer all (That said, good one Brandon)
Joe – Holly Rowe better re-evaluate the way that she asks questions as a sideline reporter, or she will quickly find her way to college softball and basketball games in towns we don’t know how to pronounce. The way that she informed Urban Meyer before the game with some snarky remark on how he needs to change his rushing play calling from a week ago, to the post game question to Ezekiel Elliott asking if “that was enough carries.”
Did I mention that she reported the wrong player injured because she got lazy? All of her sideline reports outside of interviews were regurgitated information that the broadcasters had already shared with fans.
In fact, her questioning was so far off that none of her appearances on camera moved the narrative until Urban Meyer promptly took over her discussion with his starting running back at the end of the game.
I understand that she has a producer in her ear telling her to ask those questions. It’s her attitude though that speaks volumes through the way that she asked them.
JC – TTUN fans and their “loud” cackles when the Buckeyes lost … believing they were getting an “overrated” and “deflated” Buckeyes team … and the delusional belief that Jimbo saves all. Well the education of Harbaugh continues. Get use to it Khaki boy and your sour-breathed congregation.
Brandon – Buckeye Nation’s belief that Penn State might actually win against MSU.
MDotySr – LSU and their administration for treating Les Miles like a second class citizen!
