Screw Blue
  • This morning at 3:08AM we were woken by a piercing siren, our home security alarm! Freaked out we go down stairs (of course <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /><st1:place w:st="on">my wife </st1:place>doesn’t listen to me and stay upstairs), I wasn’t able to see anything outside (walked around the property) and didn’t see any evidence of forced entry. I hit every button on the keypad to shut the alarm off, and nothing was working. So pissed off, half asleep, I kept hitting the box that was making the noise, hoping to break the outside plastic and I was just going to rip out the wiring. After 3 or 4 punches, it breaks….it being the dry wall, so I pull the chunk out of the wall and grab the scissors to cut the wiring. We look around a little more and don’t see anything so we go upstairs. Now I’m starting to think a little more logically….we don’t have the alarm hooked up! There are two motion sensors inside and if they were active, we would have tripped them a long time ago, and the only door sensor was on the back door, which I removed before we installed the new door. So basically we both freaked out over nothing! <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>

Am I the only one who read this as rambling nonsense?

Give him a break. He didn't get any sleep last night, since he was chasing Halloween goblins or gremlins. :wink2:

My excitement last night was the neighbors house across the street caught fire and was gutted last night. Thank god they weren't home but it's sad b/c they just moved in about a month ago and they had 2 little kids.

Do you think they realized that the house was a shithole and decided to collect the insurance money? I just looked as a house last weekend that could have used a nice fire.

i'm sure it sounds a little rambling, but what i was trying to say is

    1) alarm goes off
    2) look around and dont see anything
    3) smash hole into wall trying to shut off alarm
    4) after calming down, realize that the alarm isn't even hooked up
    5) laugh about it this morning when i see how big the hole in the wall is.

    The house wasn't a shithole.

The fire started in the attic so I'm guessing it was electrical.

A lot of those houses have the old "knob and tube" wiring.

We ripped all of it out of my house and re-did it all.

"You re-wiring it all yourself - putting in 220?"

    "220, 221 - whatever it takes."
