Looks like Zeke isn't playing any time soon. If the Cowboys were smart, they'd take a long hard look at Dak without Zeke before throwing "franchise QB" money at him.

This notion that every next QB contract has to be higher than the last one - regardless of which QB it is - has gotten ridiculous. I'd let Dak play out this season, transition tag him next Spring, and see who offers him what. Dallas would have right of first refusal to match the offer, but let's see what "the marker" really is for him.

As for Zeke, he's a great player in a devalued position. Melvin Gordon is even less likely to be successful in his holdout. It's the current state of the NFL.

When you look at Zeke’s production (4.7 ypc 102 ypg) through 3 years, it’s in line with some of the GOAT’s, Emmitt, Barry, Adrian Peterson, Payton, Tomlinson....However, Running Backs just aren’t great investments. BUT, Dak is NOT a good investment, either. He’s not a top 10 QB. In fact, without Zeke, he’s well below average. There’s a reason that his QB rating in 2016 and 2018 was right around 100, but the year Zeke was suspended 6 games, it was 86.

So with all that said, Jerry is between a rock and a hard place. Maybe he can pull off a Herschel Walker type of move and trade Zeke for a lot of picks that turn into three HOF players and three Super Bowls. But knowing what we know of Jerry, highly doubtful

Ed Werder reports that Dallas has offered Zeke a contract extension for more than 13.5 million per year.

If that report is true, then Zeke is nuts to continue the holdout. He would become the #2 highest paid RB in the NFL, and he has no real leverage.

I keep reading that Zeke has no leverage yet his holdout has produced a $13.5 million per year offer. Just imagine if he had some leverage!

I agree in that, if accurate, I think he should take it.

The reason for Dallas to make a deal is trying to put your best foot forward to win this season. Their window to go for the Super Bowl is probably going to be closing after the next couple years, with the likelihood that the big contracts such as the potential big Dak signing is going to hamstring them.

I think Zeke wants to be the highest paid RB in the NFL by a significant amount.
