RB Eddie George - (1995 Heisman winner, CFB HOF, 4x Pro Bowl, HC Tenn St)

Getting back on subject

To confirm the report about Eddie opening up a restaurant on south campus. I was driving on Highstreet on south campus early last week and i caught out of the corner of my eye about five guys walking up the sidewalk, so I looked over towards them. Who do I see wearing a very expensive looking black suit, #27 himself. I almost wrecked my vehicle staring at him, but I've never been that close to him before. The guys huge, taller than the rest of the group and definitely built. So anyways it does seem like South campus would be the choice for the location for restaurant.

with all due respect buckalum you are a new poster so let the boys talk if they want. All of us like each other but its fun to get some arguements going.

Anyhow never said it but welcome to the BP.
One note off topic, then I'll drop it.

With all due respect, I suggest you look at my join date and compare it to yours. I have been a member here as long as you have. I was a member of bucknuts for years before that. Unlike you, though, I do not post 70 times a month. Nothing wrong with posting more, its just that I rarely have a need to post. When I do post it is usually for a reason. I visit this site multiple times a day, just to check in to see if anything new has come up.

Also with all due respect, I believe it is fine to have disagreements and arguments sometimes, but honestly, most of the time it is one or two members stirring the pot and intentionally flaming--- for shits and giggles I guess. My point in my earlier post was not to say "lets all get along". It was meant to call out the idiots that come here and seem hellbent into taking the Planet the same direction as Bucknuts. And I'm sure you don't want another site like that.

And since we have been members for a comprable timespan, let me say to you: "Welcome to the Planet"

On topic now---

Does the destruction of South campus suck? YES. Do I want to vomit everytime I see what campus partners and the school administrators have done to tOSU? YES. And do I want to laugh at how they seem to think they are such great people? YES. Does that mean I think Eddie should not start a restuarant? NO.

I think Eddie George investing in south campus is fantastic. Really, he has been a great embassador for tOSU since he was a student here. Him to come back and put his money, time, and energy into revitalizing South Campus-- speaks volumes to his affection for tOSU. I would much rather have him bring a restuarant into town than another national chain with no ties to the university, its traditions, and its culture. I, for one, think Eddie doing this is fantastic.

Eddie George’s Grille 27

Eddie George’s Grille 27

This sounds great! :)

The exciting new Eddie George’s Grille 27 is coming to Columbus this fall. This new kind of sports-theme restaurant will put a whole new “spin” on the sports-restaurant experience, in other words…this ain’t your daddy’s sports bar!

This new project is being brought to Columbus by experienced hospitality executives who originally partnered with Eddie George on the highly successful Eddie George Sports Grille in downtown Nashville. That restaurant opened in 2000 and is still providing a quality guest experience today.

Industry veterans Howard Shiller and Bob McCarthy, both formerly of the Walt Disney Co. in Orlando, Fla., along with Bob Burness are creating an all-new concept in Columbus that will be representative of Eddie George’s pride and commitment to Columbus and The Ohio State University. This project, like Eddie, will be a stylish and classy restaurant that will provide a quality food, beverage and entertainment experience for all members of the community and especially for those who love The Ohio State University and Eddie George.

The restaurant will occupy 6,347 square feet on the southeast corner of High Street and Chittenden Avenue. The restaurant, which is being designed by a famed Columbus architectural firm, will be stylish and sleek with modern décor that will represent the new millennium, but also classic enough to reflect the timelessness of the great campus of Ohio State and its alumnus.

The state-of-the-art audio/visual presentation of high-definition televisions and sound will be provided by Island Systems & Design. This company provides audio/visual presentations for some of the country’s finest casinos, as well as ESPN Zones, Fox Sports Grilles, Darden Restaurants, and many others. With an over $250,000 investment in audio/visual equipment, the presentation will be spectacular!

“Our goal is to create a restaurant that provides the highest quality, casual-dining guest experience possible not only in Columbus, but in the nation,” explained Bob McCarthy. “In order to do this, we sought the services of the best in their fields to assist us in delivering a restaurant that people will enjoy for years to come. As my Disney experience showed and as Walt Disney once said, ‘Ultimately, quality wins out!’”

The menu will provide a broad range of offerings that will not only make the sports-bar fan happy, but also the most experienced casual-dining critic in any group:

Mouth-watering appetizers such as crab cakes, mini-reubens, crispy tuna rolls with ponzu, sesame chicken satays, bacon-wrapped shrimp with avocado and chili essence, as well as the ever-present chicken wings and over-the-top nachos.
Entrees which provide everything from the famous EDDIE’S 27oz. STEAK, angus burgers, lemon-garlic chicken, savory BBQ ribs, pecan-encrusted pork chops, ahi tuna, baked rigatoni with meatballs, wild mushroom and wide noodle past with sun-dried tomatoes and a parmesan broth, macaroni and cheese entrée, etc.
Tremendous salads and sandwiches from fresh Asian chicken salad, fried chicken salad, apple and bleu cheese salad, a fried-cheddar and meatloaf hoagie, hot shrimp BLT, smoked gouda, turkey and pancetta club on ciabatta bread.
Desserts will include hot deep-dish apple pie, skillet peach cobbler, triple-stack chocolate layer cake, a banana-split martini for two, etc.
The bar area will include 27 different martinis, 27 different beers, 27 different vodkas, scotches, etc.

Columbus is one of the places that Eddie George will always call “home.” Being a Buckeye is a title Eddie wears with great humility and pride. “We are humbled by this opportunity to deliver a restaurant along with Eddie that will make him as proud as he currently is of the phrase ‘graduate of The Ohio State University!’” said Bob McCarthy. “This is our mission and, like Eddie always has, we will work harder than anyone else and never compromise to ensure this success!”

If this place had existed when I lived in an apartment on Chittenden, I probably would have spent as much time there as I did in classes that year!

Ohiobuck, do you know when exactly in the fall it opens? I'm visiting my bro at some point this fall at school, and I really want to eat there!

Campus Partners announced the lineup of restaurants and shops that will
open August 1 in the South Campus Gateway, including Eddie George's
Grille 27, a sports-theme restaurant to be opened by Eddie George,
former Ohio State running back and Heisman winner.

The people on 12th, 11th, and Chit that renewed their leases for next year basically got the steal of the century as far as real estate. Paying this year's prices for living next to the Gateway? For an entire year? Ridiculous. I'm kicking myself now for getting a place up on Norwich, but the way it's starting to look, I should be lucky I'm living on campus.

Those three blocks will be the hottest plots of land east of the Mississippi if the Gateway takes off (and I don't see how it can fail will places like Grille 27). Just imagine the crowd before, during, and after the Texas game. They better have their shit together cause a grill/bar like that just entered the toughest environment imaginable.

Anybody know if this place is going to have any sort of patio?
Outdoor bar space is seriously lacking around campus.
4-Kegs is packed all day, every day in the spring.
Eddies sounds awesome, maybe a bit too nice for campus it seems though.
I hope they keep drink prices low and offer some sort of specials.
My only question is, why 27 martinis, why not 27 manhattans? (whisky > Vodka or Gin)

No way in hell Wisky > Ginn ... But yeah, seems like it will be a great bar and full of entertainments, great prices and drinks. Also, prime loacation for both campus students and out-of-towners to get drunk at and
accidentally lose their wallets" at.
