Randy Moss' agent arrested on charges of possessing crack

By The Associated Press
Thursday, March 16, 2006

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) - An agent for Oakland Raiders wide receiver Randy Moss has been charged with possession of crack cocaine after police were called to a hotel to investigate a disturbance, authorities said Wednesday.
Dante DiTrapano and his wife, Teri, of Charleston, W.Va., were arrested Tuesday at a hotel in St. Petersburg, police said. The pair remained in jail late Wednesday on $5,000 bond each, according to a Pinellas County Jail official.

The hotel's management called police to report a disturbance outside the couple's room. When officers entered the room they found cocaine in plain view, police said.

"It was all over the place — little bits of crack here, paraphernalia. It was on the bed, on the floor," said George Kajtsa, a spokesman for the St. Petersburg police department.

Police seized 73 pieces of crack cocaine and 21 grams of powder cocaine, Kajtsa said. An officer who wrote the report on the incident said another amount of cocaine appeared to have been flushed down the toilet, Kajtsa said.

"If one person would have had all this, that would have been trafficking quantities," Kajtsa said.

Three other people were also arrested and charged with possession of crack cocaine, police said. Each person had cocaine on them, Kajtsa said.

DiTrapano also is an attorney.

"Dante has been battling depression over two tragedies that occurred this past year. We don't know the facts of his arrest at this point, but we hope and pray that Dante will now get the help he needs," Tim DiPiero, an attorney with DiTrapano, Barrett & DiPiero in Charleston, said in a statement released Wednesday.

Moss also commented through the attorney's office.

"I'm sticking by my friend and I'll support him and his family as he gets help battling his problem," Moss said.

He was probably on his way to getting it to Randy.

I'll bet. With the unlimited supply of money that Moss has at hand, it is certain that he would waste his money and significantly successful career on drugs that would not only jeapordize his name but would also send the messsage that the much maligned, former Minnesota Vikings Wide Receiver, may be involved in a cache much more rewarding than his High Profile front. Just saying that Moss, though a shit ass, probably isn't DIRECTLY involved.

It was a joke.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) -- The agent for Oakland Raiders wide receiver Randy Moss was arrested over the weekend for failing to appear at a motion hearing stemming from his March 14 arrest on crack cocaine charges.

Dante DiTrapano of Charleston was arrested Saturday and booked at the Pinellas County Jail in Clearwater, Fla., sheriff's department spokesman Mac McMullen said Wednesday. DiTrapano posted bond and was released on Sunday.

Robert Heyman, DiTrapano's attorney in Palm Harbor, Fla., said Wednesday that DiTrapano is being treated at a Tampa, Fla., hospital for an undisclosed condition.

"He's receiving treatment for a medical condition he had prior to his arrest," Heyman said.

DiTrapano, his wife Teri, and three others were arrested earlier this month at a St. Petersburg, Fla., hotel. Police say they recovered 73 pieces of crack cocaine and 21 grams of powder cocaine. All five were charged with felony possession of crack cocaine.

Florida officials issued a warrant for DiTrapano after he failed to attend a March 21 court hearing in St. Petersburg.

DiTrapano has said he's enrolled in a treatment center for an addiction to the pain killer OxyContin.

Tim DiPiero, a partner in DiTrapano's law firm in Charleston, didn't immediately return a telephone message Wednesday.

Authorities search home of agent

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) -- Authorities searched the home of a Charleston lawyer and sports agent who is facing drug charges in Florida, but would not say what they were looking for.

The search of Dante Di Trapano's Charleston home was conducted Thursday by more than a dozen federal agents, metro drug enforcement officers, Charleston police officers and State Police troopers, the Charleston Gazette reported in Friday's editions.

DiTrapano is the agent for Oakland Raiders wide receiver Randy Moss.

DiTrapano, his wife Teri, and three others were arrested March 14 at a St. Petersburg, Fla., hotel. Police there said they recovered 73 pieces of crack cocaine and 21 grams of powder cocaine. All five were charged with felony possession of crack cocaine.

Officers participating in Thursday's search referred questions to Tracy Dorsey-Chapman, spokeswoman for the U.S. Attorney's Office. She declined to comment, the newspaper reported.

Federal agencies participating in the search were the FBI, the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, and the Internal Revenue Service's Criminal Investigation Division.

Drug items, guns found
# Receipts list what police say was at di Trapanos'

Law enforcement officers seized guns, ammunition, prescription painkillers and drug paraphernalia last week when they searched Dante di Trapano’s South Hills home, according to a federal search warrant unsealed this week.

More than 15 federal agents, Metro Drug Unit officers, Charleston police and State Police searched the Charleston lawyer’s home for more than six hours Thursday.

Officers seized three crack cocaine pipes, a chunk of suspected crack, a bag of white chunks and residue and other items with white residue on them, including two spoons, a knife and a laptop computer, plus miscellaneous white particles from the master bedroom rug, according to one receipt attached to the warrant.

Di Trapano and his wife, Teri, were arrested March 14 in St. Petersburg, Fla., on felony drug possession charges after cocaine was allegedly found in their hotel suite.

Police said they seized 73 pieces of crack cocaine and 21 grams of powder cocaine while investigating a disturbance in the hotel allegedly involving di Trapano, who is the agent for National Football League star and Rand native Randy Moss.

No charges have been filed against the di Trapanos in West Virginia. Also, nothing in the warrant indicates that the guns were not legal. Paperwork was found with some firearms, one receipt stated.

Teri di Trapano’s blue diary, which contains an entry as recent as April 4, was seized as well. She was home during the search, according to one receipt.

Officers wrote that they also took seven unopened vials and one empty vial of Buprenex, a brand-name version of buprenorphine, which is “a narcotic analgesic used to treat or prevent moderate to severe pain,” according to Walgreens.com.

They also seized two .32 magnum revolvers, three 9 mm pistols, a .380 pistol and a .357 revolver plus a phone bill and a handwritten letter from the home at 1340 Johnson Road, according to one receipt attached to the warrant.

A special agent for the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives got the warrant from U.S. Magistrate Judge Mary E. Stanley on March 31.

Moss drops agent facing drug charges

Associated Press

<!-- begin body-content -->CHARLESTON, W.Va. - Oakland Raiders wide receiver Randy Moss has dropped an agent who is facing drug charges in Florida.
Charleston lawyer Dante DiTrapano, his wife Teri, and three others were arrested March 14 at a St. Petersburg, Fla., hotel. Police there said they recovered 73 pieces of crack cocaine and 21 grams of powder cocaine. All five were charged with felony possession of crack cocaine.
Moss signed an agreement on April 20 designating another Charleston lawyer, Tim DiPiero, as his sole agent, the NFL Players Association told The Charleston Gazette for a story in Tuesday's editions. DiPiero confirmed the agreement on Monday but he told the newspaper that he would not comment on the reasons.
DiTrapano and DiPiero are members of the same law firm, DiTrapano, Barrett & DiPiero PLLC. The law firm has removed DiTrapano's name from the sign outside its Charleston offices.
DiPiero has represented Moss as an agent and attorney since 1995, when Moss was accused of kicking a classmate at DuPont High School. Moss later pleaded guilty to misdemeanor battery.
