Urban? How about spread 5 wide, run some pick/rub routes, and then just run it with the QB. You have to cover the 5, leaving the middle 6-on-6. A smarter man than I should be able to figure out some blocking schemes and reads for the QB to know where to run it.
Are you asking me if Urban Meyer is smarter than I am? Yes, Urban Meyer is smarter than I am.
I miss that two TE set where they would run the trap with Zeke, and really the zone read would work Howard. Plus you can get creative with Hendo/Judkins/Howard under a Kelly-run offense. I am so excited to see what they do with the offense under Howard. And yes, I am pretty sure Howard is going to be the starter heading into the first game.Motion, then the lead blockers
The WHAM was beautiful and I don't mean George Michael.I miss that two TE set where they would run the trap with Zeke, and really the zone read would work Howard. The fact that Chip Kelly could turn Jeremiah Masoli
Then if I’m being honest I’d love to see both backs lead the way for Howard on a QB power.
A lot of people on this site should know more than I do, but I think the ability to run a zone read is an underrated skill. The best at running this offense (in my IMO), JT Barrett, took a couple of games to learn how to run it. Against Navy, the offense spluttered. Against Virginia Tech, bleh. It took a few games for him to get it and when he did, well, they put up 49 points against Michigan State, and really didn't struggle outside of the Penn State game. And who remembers Trace McSorley? Big douchebag, but he had a lot of talent. If he was half as good at running that read option as JT Barrett was, Penn State could have had a chance to win some playoff games. As it is, they never made a playoff.zone read
I'm in.legit threat to Cardale your safety
I take solace in the fact that someone put together a Will Howard Lowlight video to support their anti-Howard agenda and it was really only like 5 bad plays…A lot of people on this site should know more than I do, but I think the ability to run a zone read is an underrated skill. If Howard (whom I know nothing about) can make that read, I think he's the easy choice as starter, and the Buckeyes will be really good.
I can’t say whether you’re right or wrong, but I can offer my perspectiveI can offer no statistical support for this and leave it to others to show whether I'm right or wrong (which is entirely possible), but my overall sense of our offense, even much of the time with CJS, has been that we've got a lot of toys to play with and and a lot of tricks in the bag and we fuck around and don't actually use them, at least not consistently to their highest and best use; a ton of horsepower, but only marginal torque.
My hope now is that, with Kelly and a big QB who can run a little and throw a little, we'll just execute and impose this offense on the other side rather than dithering around and having to bail ourselves out on third and long and/or fourth and short. We had waaaay to many 4th downs last year. I appreciate that we went for and converted many of them, but the fact that we had to indicates an upstream problem; tOSU should only have a couple of those, at most, per game. With this staff and talent, we should be able to get back to that number and convert the few we have.

I know there are those who still expect their favorite team to win even when the other team cheatsNo disagreement with any of the above … I was always holding my breath for Stroud to bail us out and it didn't happen against the shit-weasels.
Your points as to the OL are well taken. Here's hoping they've got it together and at least one of the TEs can figure out how to block.
