QB Quinn Ewers (transfer to Texas)

In fairness, Quinn, never-ever, should’ve skipped his senior year of HS.

He grabbed a bag short term. Hurt him long term.
I was thinking about this. Did his advisors do him a disservice by having him enroll a year earlier than planned? It seems like he would have been an "old" high school senior, but to lose a year of development before hitting D1 seems like it would have been detrimental.

In further fairness, depending on how much and how smart he's been with the money, that's an extra year of ~seven figures working for him.

He's likely been set for life since he was 17 and the NFL is still there.

We over index to the football side here, for obvious reasons, but if these kids are indeed getting this kind of money along with sound financial advice/coaching/education then they should absolutely be trying to get as much as they can, as early as they can. The NFL should be looked at as a very big "if" and you don't bank on "if" money.

Just sayin': Makes sense and
1) if he does have a legitimate offer of $6M to transfer
and
2) it is a school with a "solid supporting group of players" i.e. at least a "potential contender" for a conference championship
and
3) has a good QB coach that would help get him more NFL ready

maybe he should take it and try to improve his NFL draft for 2026.

He’ll be 22 in a couple of months. Didn’t he delay entering high school for a year? So when he ‘skipped‘ his senior year, he ended up leaving HS at 18, like most guys.

He skips his senior season to enroll at OSU…..and parachuted into Columbus on Day 1 (or even slightly after?) of Fall Camp. He got few reps there……rode the bench and had few reps probably as a 3rd or 4th stringer. Then bolts from OSU before Winter workouts. The guy not only missed out on his high school development, but missed almost a full season parachuting into and out of OSU.

He was thrust into play at UT and shows glimpses of stardom but not consistent

I feel like Quinn and tOSU would have been better if he had played his senior year of HS then come to tOSU to start winter workouts. He would have been able to learn from Stroud for a year then take over the starting job before last season. He'd probably be in a better place as far as the NFL scouts are concerned if he had been our starting QB for the past 2 years and was looking to go in the draft this spring. Now Texas wants Manning instead of him and he'll have to start from scratch at a new school and hope he looks good enough in one year to improve his draft stock. I feel like him graduating early then leaving before giving tOSU a chance threw off our QB schedule of playing 2 years and being a first-round pick. Hopefully Sayin gets us back on schedule next year.
