QB Devin "Utah" Brown (National Champion, transfer to Cal)

His best option, in my opinion, would have been to Utah. The way Rising plays is very similar to how I think Devin would be best used and they have great coach.
At this point, a one step down program like Cincy or Marshall are his best option. Competition is less. Won't have to compete against some high priced recruit who is the "future of the program."

McCord had a golden arm. Frankly, I never saw much with Devin. If he’d stayed healthy he could have been a change of pace with his athleticism. But he was nowhere near a 4* talent.
I’m not talking about at OSU. Once McCord won the position, Brown was only going to see action due to injury. But at a school like Cal, one would think that a OSU transfer could win the position. Especially if McCord was able to win the spot at Syracuse, which is basically on the same level as Cal.
But like @Buckeyeskickbuttocks said, injuries affected Brown a lot. But at this point, if he can’t beat a true frosh at Cal, then he can either “burn the bridges“ again for Cal or head to a Mountain West type school. Best of luck

Lost the QB competition. Tough break for him

Just sayin': And he lost it to a true Freshman.

Cal names Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele starting QB: Freshman wins the job over Ohio State transfer Devin Brown

Cal has named freshman Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele its starting quarterback ahead of the program's season-opener against Oregon State, the school announced on Monday. Sagapolutele, the former No. 65 overall recruit in the 2025 recruiting cycle by 247Sports, won the starting job over Ohio State transfer Devin Brown.

"We felt like he earned it," Cal coach Justin Wilcox said. "We also feel like Devin is a really good football player. Devin, his ability to be a winning starter at this level, but Jaron earned it."

Brown spent the last two seasons as a backup at Ohio State and transferred to Cal to compete for the starting job. Brown received an NIL package from Cal in the upper six-figure range, sources told CBS Sports' Matt Zenitz. With Sagapolutele tabbed as the starter heading into the season, Brown is expected to be the backup.

"Jaron is excited obviously," Wilcox said. "I'm sure Devin is disappointed, which is what you would expect. At that position, when you make a decision, it's not like a lof of people are swapping quarterbacks every play. ... I think Devin is a good football player. He does a lot of things well. He's extremely smart and he's been a great leader. I'm sure he's disappointed."
