SAN ANTONIO ? NCAA president Myles Brand and NBA commissioner David Stern are holding a press conference here on Monday and are expected to announce a change in the NBA's draft eligibility policy.
Brand hinted Thursday the NCAA and NBA had worked out a deal to create a 20-year-old age limit, which would keep the best players in college for a minimum of two years.
The NBA adopted a 19-year-old age limit in its collective bargaining agreement with the players' association in 2006, which prevented high school players from jumping directly to the NBA.
Looks like that insider over at scout knew what he was talking about :p Oh if only this had happened sooner :sad2:

The NBA CBA expires in after the 2010-11 season, so perhaps Deshaun will be here longer than expected.

Darn them. Could you imagine KK at the 4 with Oden and Mike Jr. on the floo...sorry, I was drooling.

Hunter as a sub, Lighty & Twigs as energy guys, Turner a utility man. Wallace able to redshirt. Much less pressure on Diebler to perform.

Oh to dream...

Dang it!

I wanted it to be a 2 year minimum when they first changed it. The one year was pretty stupid, IMO.

But, yes, we can only dream about what might have been if the 06 class had to stay 2 years.

I was just dreaming about that yesterday..

I love this. I'm a big fan of college sports, and this definitely helps improve college basketball. It's good for athletes as well, whether they realize it or not. :tongue2:

This is great news. I haven't been nearly as passionate about college basketball since Kevin Garnett in '95 when it seemed most of the best kids turned pro. The one and done policy was possibly more frustrating because it seemed like a big tease to me. Don't get me wrong, last season was magical, but didn't anybody else feel a little flat when Greg, Mike and Daquan decalared? I certainly did.

I don't like any age limit personally. I know it helps college basketball, but I can't even fathom the idea of a Lebron James or Kobe Bryant being forced to go to school for two years. Seems a bit ridiculous IMO.

Yeah there are burnouts out of high school, but these aren't kids by that time. They're capable of making decisions.

I also have to wonder whether we'll see more kids doing what Kosta is and just signing for two years in Europe instead of going to college.

I have the same thoughts. Just one big scam. I want a age limit on hockey, baseball, tennis and golf and whatever.

I don't understand how anyone can dislike this rule...

College basketball will be much for fun to watch and you won't just be seeing a great player for one season and it won't be a rent a player type situation where a guy doesn't really have to go to class...

The NBA will be better off because they will have a bigger opportunity to scout these kids, and they will be much more mature in their game...

I can understand why some say that the other sports guys can pro earlier etc. but it is no different IMO than places of employment putting down guidelines for their new hires...

I'm excited it will make the college game significantly better.

I do feel, they should really come up with a plan to pick the top notch kids who are forced to go to college for 2 years and offer some type of insurance.

It's going to suck balls for the first kid who Shaun Livingston's his knee-cap when he could have been making millions of dollars in the NBA.
