Problem with DVD burner

I just got a DVD burner so I can enjoy timBUCK2's DVD files, and when I went to burn my first DVD I got this error:

Not enough space for temp files in the specified folder C:\Documents & Settings\Jeff\Local Storage\temp. There are 2461 MB available, but the recording process will need approximately 4413 MB.

Why the hell does my DVD burner need free space in a temp folder, and why is a temp folder being restricted with how much data can be stored in it? I have more than enough space on my computer for 4413 MBs. Why can't this folder hold that? I've emptied it out and I still don't have enough.

Any suggestions?

What your computer does when it burns the dvd is it makes a copy of whats going on to the dvd on your hard drive and then it uses that to transfer to the dvd. I believe you can turn that off, look for an option that looks something like "Burn on the Fly" or something like that.
When you do this be sure to not do anything else on your computer because you run the risk of the dvd not burning correctly because it can't send the date to the burner fast enough. Also to help make sure your copy comes out alright burn it at 4x speed.
Hope that helps.

In the long run it will probably be better for you to get a large external drive. Format the same in a manner that is optimized for large, media, files.
Direct the DVD authoring / burning program to use that drive.

I second that.

You can get 300gb external drives for about 100 bucks now.

I think that's what I'll have to do.....which sucks. I didn't include huge external hard drives into the equation.

My burning program didn't have an option for burning on the fly.

Thanks for the help everybody.
