I'm starting to feel a little more freedom about moving teams around and re-evaluating them. On the one hand, it feels very inconsistent to move a team up or down when they didn't do anything that week to "deserve" it, but I'm viewing things as if the poll is brand new each week. Some teams are simply playing better now than they were before. My goal is that the top 25 reflects which teams I think could/should beat the teams below it, combined with what they've done to "earn" their position.
So, in the case of Miami and OSU -- Miami gets the benefit of one less loss and one very good win (destroying VT), despite the fact that I think on a neutral field that OSU would beat Miami. A big win at scUM this week would cause me to move OSU ahead of Miami, even without a Miami loss, because I think that a road win at a quickly-improving Michigan in a rivalry game would offset the win at VT.
It ain't perfect, but all polls suck. :tongue2:
