PF/C Kosta Koufos (CSKA Moscow)

Koufos is a unique offensive player who can do almost anything with the ball......our squad should be more up tempo than last year....if that is possible. :)

Oh God. The end of last season when Greg was in the game the offense appeared to just stand there most of the time. I would hope that we are more up tempo than that. I'd love to see us running and gunning this season and I think we have the personnell to do it. Our big men can all run and we definitely have the shooters to get the gunning part down. Once we clamp down the defense we should get many opportunities for fast break basketball.

Koufos is Ohio State's Oden encore

sportingnews
Kosta Koufos walks alone onto the Ohio State practice court, pounds the ball hard off the floor from his right hand to his left, passing it between his legs along the way. He jabs his left leg and shoulder toward an imaginary defender, then pulls back and sinks a 3-point jumper.

Big deal, right? Tennessee's Chris Lofton could do this while blindfolded, handcuffed and singing the opening aria from Rigoletto.

Thing is, Koufos stands nearly a foot taller than Lofton. No need to look that up. That makes Koufos a little over 7-1.

to call that article "glowing" is an understatement.

Man somehow I envision bigger things for the BB team than last year. Is that possible without winning it all? :tongue2:
Maybe undefeated ? It's possible but highly improbable of course.
Oh Well GO BUCKS! :oh:

He will have better numbers than those in every category, including assists. He's going to be playing around 30 minutes a game, and he's only going to be good for 12-6 with one block per game? Seriously doubt it. And how will he not approach Oden's numbers on the boards? Oden was not a great rebounder over the course of the season.

17 pts, 8 rebs, 3 assists, 2.5 blocks.

Here is the reason why I said those numbers...

I think that with Butler, Lighty, Diebler, KK, Hunter, Turner, that he will average somewhere around 12 pts/game...Yes he will have games where he goes for 20 or so, and yeah maybe 12 is a little low, but until we really see how the offense is going to be structured it is kinda hard to say how many points he will score, but just keep in mind that usually the guards do a lot of scoring in Matta's system...

As for the rebounds, 6 rbs/game is pretty good, and I am not saying it might not be higher, but with big guys like Hunter, Madsen, Twig, and the guards wing guys standing 6'5'', 6'6'' and 6'7'' there won't be quite as many rebounds to go around like there were last season...When Oden and Harris were in the game it was basically up to Greg to get a lot of the defensive rebounds...

I'm thinking numbers closer to that of what Habanero said. While I think we will have a pretty balanced scoring team, KK is going to be a mismatch against just about every team we play, so I think he will be the focus on offense most of the time. I also think KK's rebounding numbers are going to be about equal with GO's if he is guarding the post which I believe he will. GO had more athleticism and natural rebounding ability, but he was rebounding with one hand (which probably cost him 1-2 boards a game), wasn't in tip top shape all season and had some foul trouble in games. If KK gets 30+ min a game (which I think he will), then I think he will get 8-10 boards a game as he is a good position player and has great hands.

not as good as odens in big ten play. what do you think thump?

I agree, I thihk people are getting a little ahead of themselves in the great things they are predicting for Kosta.

I say if he averages about 10 pts. a game and maybe about 5 boards, that would be a great start.
