PF/C Kosta Koufos (CSKA Moscow)

He's no GO, but he's got a lot of potential and he'll do nicely. Had that one really nice block, doesn't have Greg's innate sense of timing, but not many do.

I also will say that Matta will probably work to his strengths a little more.

I once again will say that I love KK's game...

The only thing that I have seen with watching him one more time is his timidness at times...There were some balls that I thought he could of been be able to block or grab, but he either wasnt quite agreesive enough, but it is also an all-star game...

I did like his ability to post up the smaller guys, but was beat in the post and off the dribble, but once again it was an all-star game, and he was out of position from where he will play next year...

He is going to be a great player here and I can't wait to see what he can do...

Koufos scores 14 in all-star loss
Monday, April 23, 2007

GlenOak High School basketball star Kosta Koufos nearly came up with a double-double in Saturday's Jordan Brand All-American Classic at Madison Square Garden in New York.

The 7-foot-2 Koufos scored 14 points and grabbed eight rebounds for the Jordan Royal team, which lost 127-119 to the Jordan Yellow team.

Koufos played in the McDonald's All-American game earlier in the month. The Ohio State recruit became the first Stark County player to participate in both of these national all-star games.

The point made about him playing out of position in this (and many) of these all-star games is well made.

I'm very excited to see what he can do next year. I think it will be a totally different style of basketball than what we played during the latter half of this year.

One thing I was very impressed with is the speed with which he got up and down the floor for a guy his size.

Yeah KK moves real well, it is just at times he can struggle with lateral quickness when playing defense...

Some pretty high praise for KK after the game...

Kosta Koufos -- Koufos was one of the most impressive players in the practices leading up to the game. He struggled in the first half, but came on in the second half with some impressive shots and dunks. He's a consummate gym rat, as he stays after shooting jumpers when the other players are finished. His drive to improve and work hard will take him a long ways. He still must add strength to his frame, but at 7-feet he has tremendous potential. With strong hands and excellent length, his skill set for an 18 year old is very advanced. He's got a Duncan-like smoothness to his offensive game with the ability to use the glass and face up and hit 12-18 footers with great consistency, as well as the ability to handle the basketball. At one point during the practice on Thursday, Koufos grabbed the rebound on one end, dribbled the ball coast to coast and finished with a dunk. He'll have some big shoes to fill at Ohio State, but look for Koufos to be one of the best bigmen in the country, regardless of class.

virtually all players of kosta's height have that issue. for a player over 7-foot-tall, his lateral quickness is quite good.

I know, just is something he will have to work on against guys that he could have to guard that will step out on the perimeter, especially if he is going to man the 3 or the 4 position...
