PF/C Kosta Koufos (CSKA Moscow)

Little tidbit from the Akron Beacon Journal this morning....

As for Koufos, he visited a doctor Wednesday afternoon with his mother for another assessment of his injury.

``We're going to take the conservative approach,'' said Koufos, who is most likely out for the season. ``I don't want to try to rush anything. It's not worth it. And I'm not letting it get me down.''

Knowing is half the battle.
So the GlenOak High School boys basketball team can at least face an uncertain future with one certainty: Its 7-foot-1 center is done for the season.

Kosta Koufos was fitted with a cast Wednesday at the Cleveland Clinic, all but ending any chance of him making a late-season return. The junior big man fractured a metatarsal in his right foot at practice last week and missed Friday’s win against Perry.

“He’s obviously a kid that has a chance to play in college and beyond,” GlenOak coach Jack Greynolds said. “We don’t want to jeopardize that for a handful of games.”

Koufos was examined by one of the doctors who worked on the foot of Cleveland Cavaliers center Zydrunas Ilgauskas. Surgery was not performed because Koufos’ growth plates are still open.

Koufos visited Maryland this past weekend. Kosta is still wearing a cast on his injured foot. There is a slight chance he could return by mid March, depending on if his team is still in the state playoffs at that point. A full recovery is expected. Ohio State, Louisville and Maryland are still at the top of his list with Illinois, Michigan and Michigan State in the mix.

EDIT: added additional pics to profile........
