I have an opportunity to go the Penn State game next week but I was wondering about tailgating there. I have an OSU canopy, 8' Brutus, generator, etc. I was told by another huge Buckeye fan that since its a night game that there may be some trouble with fans. Does anyone have any experience tailgaiting in Happy Valley? Any tips would be appreciated.

My wife was just asking me if we could go to this game. I told he definitively no, since we went in 2005 and it was by far the worst experience we've ever had at an away game. I'm not saying that all Penn State fans will try to verbally and physically abuse you, but that's what happened to us that night. I have also been to Happy Valley for other non-OSU games and had a blast. I like to think we just ran into some poor sports.

As for tailgating, the whole valley is setup perfectly for tailgating. The stadium is literally in the middle of a huge filed, you can park and set up your tent/generator/grill at ease. For us, it's usually only the two of us going to away games, so our strategy is to befriend some home team tailgaters immediately upon arrival. It gives you some people to talk with and a safe place to go to after the game. Be prepared for horrible traffic both coming and going. I think there's only one road into State College!

I was looking at finding a tick for the game, what section do the osu fans sit in?

Actually I said I wouldn't return until I was certain we would kick their asses. Then I was going to be the biggest prick they've ever seen.

of course, I'm all talk....I won't ever be a dick on the road. the only time I can remember being obnoxious is when Drew Tate was throwing tantrums in the Shoe....and I think all the Iowa fans had left by that point anyways.

I am headed up in an RV from Washington DC on Friday night with six other Buckeyes. Anyone else parking in the RV overnight lot? Let me know, there is always safety in numbers.

I have heard it gets pretty crazy at PSU (went once in 1996) espeically tailgating. I have two PSU guys with me so not really too worried.
