"Pay Sites" for buckeye info..

bucknut4life

even chuck norris fears laurinaitis
So im just trying to get an idea of how popular the "pay sites" are...Ive been pondering signing up for one of them...

For those who are on one of the pay sites, is it worth the money?? And what all comes with the monthly fees?? Is it just access to the website??

I guess my biggest question would be, is the info really worth paying money for??

Thanks in advance..Sorry if this is in the wrong forum

I subscribe to Bucknuts and get a free All-Access Pass from Rivals...

I enjoy reading the BN Premium board and articles such by Biddle, Bill Greene, and Duane. Most of threads are good on the $ board, but the free boards are a mess...

As for BSB, great recruiting updates on the entire network and an extensive gamefilm library. The forum format annoys me though...

Personally, I'll never pay a bloody dime to visit a site.

Now if you are someone like osugrad21 who has to keep up the recruiting part of the site here, that's understandable but I'm not going to pay for info. that 5 minutes later becomes public knowledge.

I don't lose sleep over not knowing where a player committed to b/c someone else knew before I did.

Just my personal preference but I have more important things that need my monetary attention like beer, porn, and heating oil.

My thoughts exactly Thump. I'm not in any hurry to get information from a pay site that will eventually be plastered all over the free sites. But I know a lot of folks here and other places are really into the recruiting side of things and it's a good source for them. It's just not for me.

As far as recruiting updates go, Rivals puts out a lot more but the ones done at BSB, particularly by Kurelic, are about as shallow as the gene pool in West Virginia. The Bucknuts staff is a lot better in that regard. Their articles are much more informative. I've never been a fan of Gary the poster but I admire the fact he travels all over Ohio to see games in person. His coverage of high school football is excellent.

Rivals' video beats Scout's hands down, quantity and quality.

As 21 pointed out, the format of the forums over at BSB is horrible. Bucknuts wins that one by default. I do enjoy reading Duane and Bill Greene's game breakdowns.

Someone I know paid for a subscription at BP2 and couldn't be less pleased with the product.

No shocker there.

I thought the only people who had subscriptions there were the people running the site!!

LloydSev just had a car accident (must have been day dreaming) he needs the money. Sadly I gave them a hit this morning to verify the $49(77) thing and I checked out the "Tard Room". God that place is pathetic.

One other thing is the basketball updates from KyleSLamb have been excellent. The Schott In The Arm updates for everything OSU basketball are enjoyable as well. Now we seem to have most of our prospects locked down thru 08, so there will be less intel :)

But there are a number who were on the fence in terms of membership until the bball updates. I do not have one, tho. I occasionally use my friends' account when there is something I have to read about (ie Nevadabuck).

If you want to drop your coin for "quick" info, feel free. Me, I am content just to wait. In my expierence, whether I know about it first or if I have to wait - even to LOI day - nothing changes.

Same thing with "Stat tracker" for fantasy leagues. I don't buy Stat tracker because my stats are the same come tomorrow morning as they would be if I saw them being compiled live.

But, if you're a Recruiting junkie, I'd say have at it.

Bucknuts had a good deal going on before $99 for the year and it includes Online access to all of scout.com, scout.com national recruiting yearbook, one year (10 issues) of Bucknuts the magazine, Sporting News mag. subscription, and the book Ohio States Unforgettables

I am a new subsciber, but enjoy the service so far. Good recruiting tidbits and i can get insider info on the browns, indians, or any other team i choose. i Think it is a good deal, but then again i like to be in the know
