Today I've heard 17 stories about Stoops and Peterson. No one seems to realize Bomar-starting qb was caught for underage drinking and faced no penalty. Granted everyone, or almost everyone did it in college. In Columbus it is enough to set off talk of inabilty to control SAs.

If you had to pass from behind their O-Line, you'd be drinking, too.

That way, when you get your head taken off 2 or 3 times a game, it doesn't hurt as bad.

Am I correct, Stoops was offerred the job at Columbus and turned it down?

Good memory cincibuck --

here from the ONN archives is the list of candidates and applicants of note before Tressel stepped to the fore.

Oakland Raiders coach Jon Gruden joined Oregon’s Mike Bellotti in dropping out of contention, following in the footsteps of Oklahoma’s Bob Stoops, Stanford’s Tyrone Willingham and Pittsburgh’s Walt Harris. Ohio State assistant head coach Fred Pagac and former OSU and NFL linebacker Chris Spielman interviewed for the job, but neither received a call-back

Unless OSU can win out I see no reason to hope UT loses. I'd much rather see them with a title than USC. I didn't see an offense last week that makes me think we can run the Big Ten. We'll see this week.

As far as OU, I could honestly see them missing a bowl game. Talent wise they don't belong on the same field as Texas. Texas A&M should beat them handily. I could see Texas Tech as a loss. Honestly, Kansas and Baylor are about the only sure wins. 5-6 is definately not outrageous.

I hope and pray to God that maybe just maybe Oklahoma can pull off a win against UT. But, that's way too much to ask. :mad2:
After seeing the first quarter of USC vs. Arkansas, I think that UT would put up 50 on USC's defense. USC might score 51, but I really think that, if we can't make it, a UT vs. USC would be a very entertaining NC.

I didn't see it either, but I also didn't see an Ohio State team show up to that game. The 'D' took the first play off, and the 'O' took the whole game off. Listening to some of the players after the game, I think that they were already looking ahead to Iowa. Let's hope that they're putting together a good week of practice, and can stomp the shit out of Iowa.
