Babel was quite depressing and even awkward at times, but the film itself was quite powerful. You can't deny that. Still, I don't expect it to be the winner.

I hated the way the Departed finished but loved the rest of the film...still, not Oscar-worthy in my opinion.

Letters from Iwo Jima was incredible. Just when you think they can't script another war movie quite as good as the last great one, they do it again with this.

Little Miss Sunshine IMO wasn't funny until the last 20-30 minutes or so (which means I didn't really like it), but I think it's going to win.

The Queen I have not seen.

Isn't Children of men an 07 release?

I think Letters will win. It is an Eastwood movie. It has an antiwar message that the Hollywood crowd will eat up.

I have seen
Little Miss Sunshine- Good, but not Oscar good.
The Queen- again, good, but not Oscar good
The Departed- Awesome movie. Great music, well done.

"Children of Men" is a 2006 release, but maybe it just came out too late for Oscar consideration? :(

Children Of Men

In a dystopian future marked by terrorism and infertility, Great Britain has become a magnet for illegal immigrants. When burnt-out bureaucrat Theo Faron is kidnapped by a terrorist group espousing equal rights for the immigrants, he discovers that their leader is his former lover and the mother of his dead child.
