Price, Barrett ready to be OSU mouthpieces
July, 10, 2012

All the 2013 Ohio State commits truly have to do at this point is fax their letter of intent to the Buckeyes in February. But many members of the group are not finished visiting Columbus in the meantime.
Defensive tackle Billy Price (Youngstown, Ohio/Austintown Fitch) has been under wraps for almost five months with the school. Dual-threat quarterback J.T. Barrett (Wichita Falls, Texas/Rider) told Ohio State he wanted to be a Buckeye in the middle of April.
Both have made arrangements to be at Ohio State’s Friday Night Lights camp on July 27.

Buckeyes are benchmark
OSU pledge Billy Price was bitten by the Buckeye bug early

Growing up in the shadows of where former Ohio State coach Jim Tressel used to roam the sideline, it was hard for Billy Price (Youngstown, Ohio/Austintown Fitch) not to root for the Buckeyes.
After all, Tressel used to be the head man at Youngstown State, so cheering for the Buckeyes when he left for Columbus just seemed natural.
Then Price took in a football game at the Horseshoe as a sophomore and the idea that had been engrained in him as a kid caught fire.
"It's kind of a bias," Price said. "You're growing up in Ohio and Ohio State is your home state. You have to support your home state."
That visit to Ohio Stadium two years ago became the benchmark for what the 2013 recruit was looking for in a school.
The 6-foot-4, 305-pound defensive tackle had offers from Arizona, UCLA, Notre Dame, Michigan, Michigan State, Nebraska, Pittsburgh, West Virginia, Tennessee, Southern Methodist and Miami (Ohio), but every time he weighed his options, the Buckeyes kept popping up.
"Other places I visited, they didn't have the same quality or same atmosphere that Ohio State has," Price said. "I think my initial falling in love with Ohio State -- if you want to say it that way -- was when I went to Ohio State-Michigan my sophomore year. It was my first ever college football game and it was an Ohio State-Michigan game at Ohio State. That right there blew me away.
"That was my stone to compare with the rest of my college recruiting opportunities. Once I took my unofficial visit and they gave me my tour of the campus and the facilities and I met a lot of the coaches, that bug bit me real hard and just embedded itself into me. That's when I knew, I wanted to go to Ohio State. It's unimaginable, how much I love Ohio State."

Price to pace Fitch
August 14, 2012
By STEVE RUMAN , Tribune Chronicle correspondent
Austintown Fitch senior Billy Price doesn't hesitate when asked to describe the moment his high school career changed for the better.
The date was Sept. 17, 2010, the fourth week of Price's sophomore season. The Falcons rallied to beat Canton McKinley 24-21 in a game that garnered statewide attention.
However, Price doesn't immediately reflect on the victory, or the hype which surrounded the outcome.
Instead, he flashed back to the first five plays of the game. He was a young offensive lineman lining up against Se'Von Pittman and Steve Miller, a pair of defensive linemen who are now playing at Ohio State.
"They were kicking my butt. They were teaching me a thing or two," Price recalled. "I remember thinking to myself, 'I better step it up right now if I expect to be as good as I want to be.' I kind of gathered myself, and I thought I held my own the rest of the night.
"Those couple of plays, in a way they were the turning point of my football career."
Needless to say, Price (6-foot-4, 310 pounds) did indeed step things up. By the end of his sophomore year, he established himself as one of the area's top two-way linemen. As a junior, Price was a defensive All State first-team selection.
Last winter, he verbally committed to Ohio State, choosing the Buckeyes over the likes of UCLA, Notre Dame, SMU, Tennessee, Pittsburgh, West Virginia, Nebraska, Michigan State, Michigan and Arizona. He expects to be used as a defensive tackle at OSU.
"During my sophomore year, coach (Phil) Annarella told me that if I worked really hard and stayed focused, I could play Division I," Price said. "I did everything I could to make it happen, but I don't think it really sunk in until I was a junior and all the recruiters started showing up That's when I knew it was serious."

fitch lineman billy price IS A TWO-WAY POWERHOUSE

With his senior year under way, Austintown Fitch lineman Billy Price can?t wait for Friday night?s lights to illuminate.
Asked how he feels on the sideline when the national anthem ends and the ball is about to be booted, the future Ohio State player said, ?Electric.
?If you?re not bouncing out of your pads, jumping around, then you?re in the wrong sport,? said Price, who measures 6-foot-4 and 312 pounds. ?That opening kickoff means that you are going. That first snap, that first play of the ball ? defense, offense, no matter what it is ? it?s crazy, it?s insane, it?s the best feeling in the world.?
No matter whether the Falcons receive or kick off, Price will be on the field. He?s one of the rare Division I high school football players who plays offense and defense.
?He?s not just a defensive player,? Falcons line coach Doug Barnhart said, noting that Price will play defense for the Buckeyes. ?We play the best five on both sides of the ball.?
Since making his verbal commitment to Ohio State six months ago, Price has been getting ready for his final season. He was happy when the recruiting calls, emails and what-have-yous evaporated after his decision.
?It felt great because I?m kind of a low-key guy when it comes to publicity,? Price said. ?I?m not that attention-craving kind of person. After I got the verbal commitment out of the way, it made it a lot easier on my heart and mind, especially when it comes down to publicity.?
