The Hero of the Modern Age
First of all, I wanted to mention that I am an aspiring musician, and I've always wanted to attend The Ohio State University, and I've looked online, and did not find that much information on their website. I was wondering if anyone who has gone to Ohio State, or had friends that have attended, or just have general knowledge on their music program could tell me what it was like? Thanks a lot, and go Buckeyes!
 
Thanks a lot guys. I want to major in studio recording (I think that's what it's called). I write a lot of music that I think is pretty good and people say I have a great voice (I don't want to judge myself). Hopefully the right oppurtunities will come around, and I can't wait to see what lies ahead. It should be a lot of fun competing with all the other applicants to earn a spot at the best university ever.

As one of the aforementioned band members... :)

I wasn't a music major, and my involvement was in athletic (Marching, Basketball, Spring) bands. I was certainly happy with the programs in those areas. The university does a good job of supporting those bands. There was a good blend of both serious musicians and those of us who weren't aspiring to a music career, but wanted to continue playing in college.

Some friends of mine participated in the University band, which is the less serious concert band, and I know they had a good time with it.

There are also some excellent choral programs - the one that comes to mind immediately is the gospel choir. I've been to their concerts a couple times, and they are always great.
