The leader of the Buckeye program failed multiple sobriety tests with his vehicle parked partially on his yard
On Tuesday, May 6, 2025, Ohio State women’s basketball head coach Kevin McGuff was charged with operating a vehicle while impaired, according to a report by Columbus’ NBC4.
The Dublin police department received a call for an erratic driver, who reportedly was McGuff. According to the police report, McGuff told the officer that he was returning home from dinner and had nothing to drink, with police including that they smelled alcohol on his breath on their report.
McGuff allegedly refused a breath sample and allegedly failed three field sobriety tests in front of the head coach’s home.
Ohio State responded to NBC4’s request for comment saying:
“The department is in communication with Coach McGuff and monitoring the situation closely. This is an ongoing, personal legal matter, and the department will share additional information at the appropriate time.”
In 2022, Ohio State’s board of trustees extended McGuff’s contract through the 2025-26 season.
