With new uniforms and a new dual-QB system, the Buckeyes look to make a statement.
Last week, for the first time since the win over Virginia Tech, Ohio State looked like a real threat in their 49-28 win over Maryland. Part of that success was thanks to J.T. Barrett and the Buckeyes' new dual-quarterback setup. Urban Meyer used the sophomore QB as the red-zone QB, and the results speak for themselves. While he only threw 2 passes (and completed both of them), Barrett rushed for 62 yards and 3 TDs. 62 yards may not seem like a lot until you remember that Barrett only took the field when we were already knocking on the door. From further out, Cardale Jones passed for almost 300 yards and another 2 TDs.
The quarterbacks weren't the only ones putting up good numbers, though. Ezekiel Elliott rushed for 106 yards and 2 TDs, bringing his total number of 100+ yard games to 16, and Braxton Miller had 90 yards of total offense. The offense may have finally found its rhythm, and it couldn't have come at a better time.
While Penn State started the season with a not-so-great loss to Temple, they are undefeated since then. Anyone who pays attention to the game knows not to underestimate the Nittany Lions when they take on the Scarlet and Gray. In the 29 games we've played against them, we've won just 16—a little more than half. We lost as recently as 2011, and we nearly lost last year in our only overtime game. They may not be ranked, but Penn State is sure to be a test for the Buckeyes before November, when Ohio State will face the Spartans and the Wolverines.
